There is always desire to be something more within human. Usually it manifest itself trough materialistic ways, sexual ways, trough drugs or parenthood example. It is endless chasing, rat-race that leads nowhere but keeps you busy trough own creation that people calls as life.
We can't remember our time as toddlers because we didn't exist in that time. We had no identity. Only when years has gone while we gathered data from our environment we created identity. When we have our identity, we decide what matters to us. Then we experience impulsive feelings when things didn't go as we wanted.
We are piece of life that creates own image and plays it (Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image). We get so tangled to our own creation that it can kill us and bring us into hell. We think that something or someone causes our misery even when we alone create everything within.
We have all this mysterious desire to do something, be something more. It usually manifest itself trough sexual ways, materialistic ways, trough parenthood, dating, drugs, games, food, alcohol.. you name it. Trough that it leads nowhere, it keeps us happy for a moment and then we need more. So where we are now? We are piece of life that want to experience bigger part of it. Trough physical ways it finds not that part and when that need to expand finds no expression we create this pain within. So what to do? This is what meditation is all about. We wan't to think nothing, be nothing because that is just the data we gathered from the physical and created self from it. When we learn to be still, just be as piece of life, something start to happen that seems to expand you into everywhere. It seems to that consciousness, awareness is the basic that exist and everything else is manifest of it.
What ((they)) wan't is to bind us more and more into physical, sins, into that rat-race i wrote about above, so that we wouldn't learn or even think about this.

no, all the food can be distributed absolutely for free (and it is, through certain campaigns). Genetically modified crops and modern farms require so little investment in both manpower and financially, that it is basically 1 man feeding 10000 mouths. It also requires little land, and the does not necessarily have to be top-grade fertile, modern fertilizers solve that problem as well. All of that has 0 negative impact on human health, no matter what some crazy people cry on the streets.

The current global economical system is aimed at progress and development of our species as a whole (while providing luxurious life style to the wealthy) and cares little about average individual, using human lives as an expandable resource. A far-right (economically speaking) society would actually introduce you to the world of free goods, because without bans, taxes, regulations and quotas the goods that have near 0 prime cost would cost near 0 on the market.

A techno-maker society, with everyone creating and making things and selling same, would be a better world for all of us. Instead of relying on big corporations to manufacture products on a large scale, we can return to what small towns had back in the old days--butcher, baker, candlestick maker, plus now we'd have laptop makers, bicycle makers, ceramics makers, bookbinders, whatever-makers, etc. Everything could be custom-made, bespoke if you will.
And you would feel so much better about your life--you'd be creating, making, selling all on your own and you'd be so much more fulfilled. Things might be a bit more expensive, but at least they'd be decently made, and everyone would have a decent life so long as they were willing to work hard at their craft or trade.
We've arrived at a time in history where we can all be makers on a grand scale and be successful.

If a destribution program is organized well enough, with IDs given to people through internet application, and there is a check-out free "store" - there you go, have free food with 0 people actually distributing it. Government and lobbyists will never allow that, because they would lose profit.
Also, food is not only about your nutricial needs and making some fancy stuff requires quite an effort (which is still not even close to the prime cost of the product).
What makes you think that an owner of a highly industrialized farm doesn't care about his product? There are tonns of requirements to be met, if you want to start business there, and the quality is being monitored with extreme prejudice, so its absolutely healthy in all regards. Genetically modified product makes for a better taste as well.
I can't say the same about those who make "organic food". When it comes to meet, you will be forced to extensively use drugs in order to keep your animals (relatively, until it catches a flu and spreads it all over the country, killing some people) healthy, and an insane amount of pesticides will be needed when it comes to crops. The conditions in which you make your stuff is poor, and quite often they don't meet the hygiene requirements. The taste varies largely from non-existent to good, and if you leave a cow on an open pasture its meat can become stiff and rubbery, you don't really want it to move that much. There is no benifit in making your stuff "organic", yet there are lots of cons.

Homebrewing beer is a great way to make good beer, save money and enjoy the company of the friends in your neighborhood.
All of this is a small sample of what the modern craftsman is doing in his spare time, there are thousands more examples. Remember, the people who make things aren't super human, and if you're a human you can probably do it too!
