Honestly as a Canadian business owner, trump is doing the right thing. We don't have free trade, we do have protectionist tariffs on some US imports.
I can ship items to my US customers with little problems. They don't get held up at the border for weeks nor do they have to pay bond/brokerage payments to receive my shipments, unless it's a very large shipment and at that point US brokerage/custom clearance fees are much more reasonable than if I were to import the same items into Canada.
When my US suppliers ship me goods its a fucking hassle for them. Some have stopped dealing with Canadians all together because of the cost and bureaucracy of getting shipments through the border. How is this free trade? It's unbalanced for sure. Sure, large companies have ways of moving their goods across the Canadian border easily, but small US manufacturers/suppliers don't.
