Long story short: We have a corrupt government lead by the Social Democrats Party. They have passed several laws which weaken the judicial powers in the country.
The people are protesting and saying that they want justice not corruption. There was a mass protest yesterday in Bucharest and the police used tear gas and water canons to disperse the crowd.
It's not a coup but we want a lawful and fair government instead of one that is riddled with criminals.

I'm friends with two Romanian expats here in Flanders. They're both really far left and support this demonstration, which makes me immediately sceptical towards it. Not saying the protest is wrong, if for example lefties protest war then I'll agree with them. Still, be mindful.
