The German leadership did stab the German people in the back: they told them they were winning, and then surrendered. In reality, they weren't winning, they were losing badly and could not sustain this war anymore. They just kindly forgot to tell the German people, and told them to keep their eyes towards the front line. This meant turning their backs on the German high command, which then stabbed them in the back.

It felt like betrayal to the German people, which is all that matters. Almost none of the people in German high command had any significant role in Germany in the buildup to WW2, which makes it irrelevant if they were acting honestly on behalf of the German people. All that matters is that the people felt betrayed, which ultimately caused the Great War 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Violating trust or going back on your word is figuratively a stab in the back.

The official story about how the socialists, communists and the population in general were tired of war obviously isn't true, as there were several millions of volunteers on the southern and eastern borders in 1918-1925 when the baltics, polish and italian refused to accept the peace contract and attempted to annex german land - and at least among the volunteers from northern germany (Brigade Ehrhardt and others), more than half were former Rotfront men (like antifa, only not as gay). Those supposedly war-tired, underfed and traumatised soldiers managed to keep of the russians, baltics, polish, italians as well as the german police (which was supposed to disarm them due to the versailles treaty) for multiple years, and even once the brits decided to join in, still managed to force an almost equal peace with only miniscule territorial losses.

Fact is that the socialdemocrats (SPD, not the socialists or the communists) were actively sabotaging the war effort. They even boasted about it after the war, claiming that the war could only end as quickly because of the soldiers and workers they convinced to desert and / or strike. Add to that a bunch of incompetent generals who had no idea about trench warfare and a huge numerical and material disadvantage once the US joined, and you'll have a pretty good idea of why we lost.
Without the SPD, we would most likely still have lost strategically, but might have been able to get a fair peace treaty. And without the SPD and american interference, we would certainly have won.

TL;DR: jews had no obvious influence, socialists did nothing major, socialdemocrats actively sabotaged, most soldiers didn't care, but followed orders even when that meant capitulating.
