Instead of their brain having to remember only approximately 26 letters and their matching phonemes, children who are taught the Look Say method have to use their memory space to remember each and every word as a symbol.
This can also have the effect of drastically reducing a child’s vocabulary because they have no way of decoding new words they have not been explicitly taught to recognise.
Many educators in America blame the widespread use of the Look Say method in American schools as the reason behind the increasingly declining literacy and numeracy rates in the USA.

If parents and kid and school agree, the kid will go there, but you can also try HAVO, and if you fail in the first year, you just go to VMBO second year, or when VMBO is too easy, you go to HAVO second year. All rich people just go straight to VWO. Takes longest, is hardest. Often, the schools have VMBO, HAVO and VWO all in the same building, but you have your own classes and do your own shit and generally don't interact that much with the others. Then, VMBOérs go do MBO, which leads them into trady jobs, HAVO goes to HBO, which makes them middle managers, and VWO goes to university, which is supposed to make them smart, but often the overlap with study and jobmarket is zero, so we have a lot of aimless people who hold master degrees but don't get hired cause employers want ubermenschen with 2 year experience fror entry level jobs. It always felt quite comfy, our school system, but there's not a lot of opportuntiy to 'excel'.

They are paths that prepare you for the respective further education, and are therefore different in difficulty, length and depth of the programs. You still have the same mandatory courses, but they are taught on different levels. Many public schools have all three levels in the same school. For VWO, there is also a distinction for Atheneum and Gymnasium, where the latter has Latin or Greek as additional languages to the other mandatory foreign languages (either German, French or Spanish, English and Dutch is mandatory for everybody). There are also gymnasiums, where there's only Gymnasium. These can be seen as the 'private' schools in US and UK system, but they are not, it's just hard to get into due to waiting list and that you have to be in a certain proximity of the school (and of course, they're all built in rich people areas, so you get the idea). So, VMBO is kinda looked down upon, which is bad for our society, cause we lack alot of tradies and therefore have to import dumb immigrants. This creates a huge divide between education between ethnic Dutch and immigrants, although it's slowly closing (Turks, Syrians do remarkibly well, Marrocans/Africans not so much). Note, that we also have VMBO Beroepsonderwijs, which is for the really dumb people, and this is on special schools (like Gymnaisum has special schools) where they're being taught reeeeeally practical stuff.

Thing is, it is kind of the baseline, but we acknowledge from a fairly early point on that people are just different in their capabilities (which was shown by 8 year of elementary school), so it's no use putting everyone in the same classes and draw the average level down. I went to rich and poor school districts due to my family moving. It seemed like the rich district had smarter kids due to more academic opportunities(early engineering courses not BS) and a more academically focused curriculum.
The poorer rural district was a fucking meme episode from King of the Hill. They focused on school activities to an extreme. Seemed like they substituted the lack of higher level academics with fun and games nonsense. It really drove me nuts. While federal education certainly is a propaganda outlet, if the goal was to use it as a eugenics program, it failed. US whites are extremely adverse to interbreeding with other races, and are the only population of whites in the industrialized world where a significant portion of people think that it's a bad thing to do in general. Whites in Europe are disarmed and complacent. They give up their wealth to support those who hate them and band together to shame any individuals brave enough to simply suggest they have a right to exist at all. But worst of all, they make fun of US for our "backwards" beliefs, like that americans think that it's ok to shoot a home intruder or that taxpayers shouldn't be expected to pay for the medical bills of the obese.

He's wrong though. The populations of students that go to a particular school are determined geographically, and races are also distributed geographically. This results in most blacks and asians being in specific inner city school districts, because that's where they live. Hispanics are much more evenly distributed in the states where they live, unfortunately. Of course though, he's not just talking about interracial reproduction, but inter-ethnic breeding between whites, which is ridiculous. Public school wasn't nessisary to eliminate that stigma, it was already on its way out before WW2, other than certain particular populations which only recently had significant presence in america, such as italians and russians.

Other than red headed irish, most people are not smart or perceptive enough to tell apart most white ethnicity by looks alone. What allowed people to tell the difference was cultural differences. Germans still spoke german, named their towns and stores with german spelling, spoke english with a german accent, wore german style clothing and cooked german dishes. Language is the key, and it would naturally get washed out in a few generations when they moved to an english speaking country, unless they lived in ethnic communes, as some did for longer than others.

I watched a documentary the other day called Trapper Jake about a fur trapper who was born in the 1910s. He told about how he used to get in fights with his schoolmates when they called him a "dirty russian", because his parents were immigrants from russia, ignorant of the fact that he was ethnically german, and thus took offense to being compared to a russian. Yes, when an Englishman meets a French man even today, they will be able to instantly tell the other's ethnicity. But not because of the way they look, but the way they talk, act, and carry themselves. Of course, Scandinavians can be visually distinguished by their height, and Spanish by their middle eastern admixture.

Germans and Russians can look very similar and have large populations. There are some distinctly french traits that would set them apart from others. In the family history threads you'll see people who's lineage is all from one country up until a couple hundred years ago. People used to be much more purebred.
