Yes, schools have a lot of shit people. But in good districts, the undesirable elements are kept to a minimum, and a good school district tries to cultivate a staff with varied backgrounds so that at the very least students will have a lot of different role models to attach themselves to.

I will repeat, OP. Most students -like- going to school in districts that aren't dumpster fire tier. They get to spend hours among friends in a safe, comfortable environment and they are given skills, a common cultural and moral baseline, stimulation, and are otherwise sheltered from poor decisions they might make.

Making your own decisions on how to educate yourself and conduct proper business and life as a citizen requires agency. The point of schooling is to allow you to develop good agency as a human being by giving you tools to effectively function in a technologically and socially developed society. You need basic argument and research skills and a fund of knowledge to stand your ground in arguments or when your rights are being infringed and you need to intellectually defend yourself. You need the ability to analyze shitty media to be able to not just go along with libshits and critically reason. You need knowledge of history and functioning of your country's political structure to be able to effectively vote and stand on a public political stage, even as a citizen.

Twelve years of schooling isn't an efficient use of their time. Much of it isn't useful in adult life and most people forget much of the material that is actually useful. It's not the schooling, it's the parents. If I had kids, I would not enroll them in high school. Instead, they can get their GED and go to a community college. They won't have to deal with the toxic environment of the fake high school world. (High school doesn't matter, trust me, because it's artificial)

10% maximum of the curriculum has any possible practical value for any individual kid, and as much in terms of cultural capital. And it is taught with ridiculously inefficient methods in ridiculously inefficient organizations.
The real aim is to teach children to go up in the morning, show up on time, not make too many waves, be compliant to strangers, recognize state authority, learn about "sensitive" subjects through the state accredited lens, diminish the influence non-socialized forms of organization (family, parish, ...), establish standardization of the population.
