It really doesn't matter for the Anerican Public. The army is quite literally a mercenary force consisting of officers paying for college, gender integrated lower class people who can't find other work, nigger women diversity hire NCOs and people who would have been deported if they were not using the military to get citizenship.

No citizen has to think about the possibility he will be thrown into the war, the best minds are completely exempt from service. So no one gives a shit. This is why they are able to do so much.

Thank you for the bread!

Wow you sound like such a fag

Taliban does opium shit too, I know they tried to get rid of it in the past but they need the money. Plus it's impossible to truly get rid of it there as most rural dirt poor Afghanistan farmers depend on it for their livlihood, the shit sells way better than wheat or other foodcrops. If either side tried to crack down on opium it'd create a shitton of unrest

That being said the ANA is corrupt as fuck and are bacha bazi enablers, but the Taliban is also shit in its own way and I consider them akin to Daesh with their destruction of the cultural heritage and history of the country

Basically, all sides are shit and it's a goddamn mess

taliban is definitely on par with ISIS and should be fucking eradicated

Quite a few of them are not citizens, many of them do it for material benefit, many of them do it for a career, and there is no clustering of soldiers from regions in units. All of which were absolutely necessary to the army of every period until the 1960's.

By getting rid of the citizen soldier, and exempting them from service, you get rid of the duty of the citizen to serve. "You signed up for it." Indeed, you have to sign your own life away for it, so you have to either a (not value your life and have the patience and self sacrifice of a saint) or b (be receiving more from the military than you are by being outside the military) a soldier for benefits hire. We all want to pretend there is greater meaning of "defending our freedoms" at play but without the commonality of the citizen soldier necessitating that our politicians justifying military action and involvement to the citizen voter who will be mobilized all action becomes dictated by in-house business. Most mercenaries are actually free market, so they have to perform. So you are right, our soldiers and sailors and airmen and especially our officers are actually, on average, much worse than mercenaries.

Yeah, but the Taliban clearly have the popular support of the civilian populace compared to ISIS which dont outside of desert Bedouin niggers

Wow, so this is how effective Amerifat propaganda really is.

Attached: 1532908766897.jpg (521x600, 30K)

>should be fucking eradicated
Seeing as NATO doesn't have a genocide-program for Afghans, i'd say that won't happen laddo.

oh did you take a poll of the ordinary afghan and how they feel about the taliban keeping them in a perpetual state of war?
>destroying the taliban is genocide
learn some definitions

I'm saying you have to genocide Afghans to genocide the Taliban dumbo.

They still romanticise military service like it's still WW2 and they're all shooting sandniggers or kicking ass, when the majority of enlisted just sit around on base, jerking off and pumping iron on the government dime, while maybe seeing a dead body on the side of the road and beating off on firewatch to liveleak videos.
Military service is just a job, not some heroic calling.

Wahabis dont smoke?
no wonder they keep losing, their troops must be strung out hard.

As I said before the ANA is extremely corrupt. There's a lot of reason to not like the government there. People tend to turn to religion as a result, and it seems in the middle east, unfortunately, only those who have the fear of god in them, so to speak, aren't corrupt.

The Taliban's primary support base are rural Pashtuns, who make up the largest ethnicity in Afghanistan. A lot of them are extremely religiious, and they see the US as a foreign invader on their lands. Which is why we've made very little progress against them after 17 years of war. In essence, to get rid of the Taliban, we'd have to genocide the Pashtuns. Which seems unlikely given the political landscape in the modern world

That's incredibly misleading, the reason why we've lost a lot of ground there was because of Obama pulling back the troops and basically giving the taliban a new life. They're tired of war and just need to be beat down, expect Trump and Mattis to crush them once ISIS has been defeated in Syria. You don't need to genocide a country to beat them into submission it just takes a consistent and practical approach that we haven't had in 8+ years.

This

And it's sad to see when the soldiers who join for that propogandized altruistic reason realize they've been lied to, and then begin to play it for benefits.

It's like there is the basic optimism of civic unity that gets snuffed out, and this was something in the past only accomplished with the most horrific and mismanaged of wars. These days it happens while the soldier is in OUST or AIT leaving jaded and cynical garrison soldiers who lost the civic spirit, usually lost in such disasters as Gallipoli be just as effectively lost forever by doing bullshited details for Sgt Laquisha or Captain Hernedez for 3-5 years.

Pic on the left is wrong
Not conform int law on territorial waters nor was there a treaty ever giving them control of that area

This is an unwinnable war. The Afghan governemnt is never going to be able to hold its own and stabilize the country on its own. The US can increase involvement, but we'd have to be there permanently to keep the Taliban down. They'll never give up I don't think, that's part of being super religious there, they praise and glorify martyrdom and believe they'll be rewarded in the afterlife. They'll never give up no matter how bad things get and there'll always be plenty of Pashtuns out there who are disgruntled with the US backed government, so the Taliban will always be around to some degree. And the US will always have to have a presence to keep them down. It's not worth it in my view, this is an unwinnable war and although I have no love for the Taliban I'd rather leave them be since they're willing to stay in their own turf halfway across the world.

The taliban are like the ISIS mexican cartel of afghanistan you fuckwit, the USA isn't producing opium.

Perhaps, perhaps you are lying. It really does not matter. As there have been several interpretations and impostors of sparky, to the point that "sparky" represents a made up persona of a persistent kekistani magapede voicing his often contemptful opinions.

>USA isn't producing opium
I didn't say they were, the Afghans are. And then the CIA is importing it.

>USA invades
>Opium production skyrockets
>Opium epidemic ensues in the USA as Mexican Cartels import it

Kill yourself. Why the fuck should I care if some shitskins hate America? The only time they ever do any damage to the West is when the West enables them. (See: Mossad enabling 9/11 with the Saudis)

Both sides are doing it

The Afghanistan Opium Risk Assessment 2013, issued by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, suggests that the Taliban has since 2008 been supporting farmers growing poppy, as a source of income for the insurgency

nytimes.com/2013/04/16/world/asia/afghanistan-opium-production-increases-for-3rd-year.html?_r=0

An obstacle to getting rid of poppy cultivation in Afghanistan is the reluctant collaboration between US forces and Afghan warlords in hunting drug traffickers. In the absence of Taliban, the warlords largely control the opium trade but are also highly useful to the U.S. forces in scouting, providing local intelligence, keeping their own territories clean from Al-Qaeda and Taliban insurgents, and even taking part in military operations.

While U.S. and allied efforts to combat the drug trade have been stepped up, the effort is hampered by the fact that many suspected drug traffickers are now top officials in the Afghan government

csmonitor.com/2005/0513/p01s04-wosc.html

Former U.S. State Department Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Thomas Schweich, in a New York Times article dated July 27, 2007, asserts that opium production was protected by the government of Hamid Karzai as well as by the Taliban, as all parties to political conflict in Afghanistan as well as criminals benefit from opium production, and, in Schweich's opinion, the U.S. military turns a blind eye to opium production as not being central to its anti-terrorism mission

Gee I wonder what country's State Department was in charge of the restructuring of the Afghan Government after the invasion. Also every quote in there essentially says "U.S. forces protect opium producers" And if the Taliban is making it and using it fund insurgencies they must be selling it to someone. The U.S. intelligence community brought this entire war into existence and this situation benefits them immensely.

Since I'm very "chaotic neutral", let me give some intel/recommendations to several countries right now.

[Iran and Turkey]

Now as you should be familiar with the destabilization plan some groups have for the middle east in which after Syria it would have been your countries next.

Since Syria is being stabilized these groups are very likely planning on just skipping ahead past Syria. Trumps Admin Sanctions are designed to be the first steps. Trump himself is just going to use this opportunity for some negotiations while not being aware of what's truly being set up down the road.

[Turkey]
It's not about the Pastor/Imam, it's about Syria and NATO.

Pull out of Idlib and NATO. Focus on border defense working with the Iranians and Iraqi's to contain the Kurds and to stop any attacks from them.

[Saudi Arabia]

Yemen will be your countries Vietnam. It's just making you look like an embarrassment on the world stage .Talk to Israel about missile defense systems as a better investment.

International relations of the new Turkey

Russia is not a reliable option since it is not an equal power contender with the U.S. and the Western alliance in general, nor is it willing to challenge the Western alliance altogether. Moreover, the interests of Russia and Turkey differ on many fronts and even on Syria. Iran is an essential ally but has its own agenda and problems.

China is a controversial power center, which may create more problems as an ally or partner and cannot compensate for the loss of the U.S. and Western partnership. It is not to say Turkey should surrender itself to U.S. demands by sacrificing its interests but it seems promoting tension is not a good idea.

Who cares about opium, who cares about anything anymore in Afghanistan. It was always mountain shit and will always stay that. What is important is the political situation, and the humiliating fact that Americans cannot even deal with their own created proxy force is pathetic. It became personal because of that.

Morality and Ethics no need apply, there is only space for force and principles. Do Afganis need a democracy? Do they need saving? Saving from what? From Sauds committing 9/11 so that their country gets occupied?

They don't perceive world like we do, meaning that the "system" that US tries to fight is not a "Libya" like regime that can be toppled and forcefully replaced by some idiots who suck up for money, but it's ingrained by locals as best possible way to live when they take their culture, religion and traditions into context.

Either way, Afganistan lost any meaning to the world, it being resolved is no longer necessary to world superpowers, nobody cares. For US it became a personal issue and now it's both a black hole for money and manpower and it's a training ground.

Current status quo is not problematic as it brings predictable events that bestow certainty onto population. Unlike either side winning and risking another level of confrontation.

id love to see a before and after trump v obama and send it to dems on twitter, obama fucking sucked at tackling ISIS
