Sicilians and Western Anatolians share the same ancestral DNA as mainland and islander Greeks because those places original inhabitants were all indigenous Greeks.
Even when Persians took over all of Western Anatolia for a few hundred years it was still Greeks there.
Same goes for the Romans, when they came down and took over Sicily that didn't just remove all Greeks and replace them with Romans, they remained just under Roman control.
Jow Forums has this autistic video game approach on history where the think of an area was overtaken by another kind of people that everyone in that area was over night killed and replaced. That literally does not happen, mixing between races/tribes/towns/cities did not happen like it does now, there was no video game "kill all people" button who were then instantly replaced by people from the succeeding faction.
