You have forgotten the origin of this man's political reign. Recall that there were over a dozen separate candidates during 2015, and viewed by nearly everyone to be one-of-a-handful of idiotic candidates in the GOP. The liberals loved this, and long-time GOP supporters loathed the prospect of Donald Trump even showing up to the first primary debate. It was a literal joke.

These stunts made it seem impossible that he would have a serious chance in the election. Of course, after securing the position on May 26th, of 2016 -- Donald Trump was clearly not a fucking joke. He was a hot contender, and a serious voice of opposition against the DNC.
But you forgot the optics of politics during this time Jow Forums. You've been swept with the outrage that following the primary election. You see, before this Donald Trump was a simple buffoon who didn't stand a real chance at winning. Even his early primary voters merely cast their ballads for him reluctantly -- perhaps in an attempt to spite the GOP establishment (which was grossly unpopular during this time).
Now I may be wrong on a few things, but I'm almost certain that Donald Trump's initial success in the primaries was sparked by an outrageous mob of ordinary Americans who wanted to sabotage an election. Ordinary people like you and I saw an opportunity to send a message, but it's hard for me to believe that any of us thought that this practical joke would become a reality.
Fast-forward to post-election night. Shit gets real, Donald is elected as supreme mandate, and the opposition is mortified. Also, Donald goes on to surpass their expectations, do interesting things, change the style of D.C. politics, and act as a damn sophisticated chief diplomat.

If you hit the man, he hit back twice as hard. Rosie O. said that he wasn't rich and was bankrupt. He called her a "fat pig." He didn't let Megan K's prom queen looks and aspiration to be the next Oprah get in the way of giving her shit just as she did to him. He made fun of his *opposition* in a way that wasn't acceptable, but it was brave and daring and it worked. He reached Americans that other people forgot about, letting the other party stick its foot in its mouth with comments about "deplorables." And he let them have the last laugh. Now he's done everything he said he was going to do, or put up a very strong attempt where he couldn't get it done, and everybody thinks they are so much smarter than him. People see things the way they want to see them, and they can't get over the labels they have applied to him. He is getting free press everyday while the Democratic Party implodes. He's like a right-wing Obama, restoring order to people who no longer believe that "hope" is enough. He may not be your President...but he is President, and the fact that a vocal percentage of the population refuses to accept it (I'm talking to you, Late Night TV hosts) has garnered him enough support to probably be reelected.
He's the real deal. If you think he's an idiot, then you are probably a bigger idiot. Those are my thoughts. Thank you for asking.
