Ok. Done it many times. When setting a hunt camp for over one week, you have to get a permit and give the location for your camp to the ranger assigned to your intended zone. 9/10 the ranger will drop by on your second day in to check your camp.

Of the dozens of times I have set a long term camp I have not once had a raised eyebrow at the fire ring.

Outside of high risk forest fire regions, the regulation states that all fires must be contained by pit or ring, and must be at least 50yards from any trail or waterway.

I once jokingly told one of my best friends that if he wanted to pretend he was out blazing trail in lands unseen under the free man's sky, then he probably shouldn't be coming to state parks for our camping trips. This grown ass man gave me the cold shoulder for the entire trip and wouldn't address how bothered he was until we were flying out.
