What's the deal with people being anti-higher education these days? I graduated around a decade ago and there was almost no sjw crazy indoctrination bullshit (there were always a few hysterical people, obviously). Have things really changed that much? I got a liberal arts degree, btw, and did take a few courses (by choice) dealing with post-Marxist theory and post-modernism.

the saturation of the internet/social media, now at everyone's fingertips since smartphones became standard-issue, has amplified it all. And since even respectable institutions like a college or whatever now have an online presence, annoying whinging faggots also have more public leverage.

It sounds like it's gotten a whole lot worse in just the last few years.

>sounds like it's gotten a whole lot worse in just the last few years

It definitely sounds like it, but all I know is what I'm seeing here and in whatever other media. I haven't been around anyone in academia for nearly a decade, but never experienced anything like this indoctrination BS everyone seems to be pushing, which is weird because most of my professors are tenured and are still teaching.

Its just people here all mad they dont have a degree. Thats why you'll hear lots of
>fuck college go trade route hurr
from ilitterates who get shit all over them all day long

It's gotten a lot worse in that time with laptops, smart phones, and social media as the biggest catalysts. Grade inflation has gotten a lot worse because no one's paying attention and you can't fail everybody. Also, you're going to be judged by their evaluations, so you'd better make sure to be their buddy and avoid calling them out for behaviors that ruin the classroom experience.

>get a trade
Yeah but where's the lie m8?
You can be ""literate"" but when you're still paying the rental jew because you're too broke to put a sizable downpayment on some property does it really matter whether or not you've got a degree?

Like seriously the only people I know that are making it are tradesfags, meanwhile everyone else is living from paycheque to paycheque.

>you're going to be judged by their evaluations

You mean the professors are going to be judged by the students (online)? That sounds like the indoctrination is coming from whatever outside media and the actual professors are having to fall in line to keep their jobs.

it's an obviously corrupt, bloated institution coming up to the popping of it's massive bubble. When all the retards who talked shit to him all those years are unemployed, Peterson will be rich because he predicted the future. Imagine how good it would feel to gain that position? It's worth it, I think.

>Remember when lawyers were veritable gods because they could actually read?
yeah me either, that was 120 fucking years ago

It's because the media, right-wing, left-wing loves outrage. Outrage drives clicks and shares and so you see outrageous stories about universities. Universities are fine.

I’m only anti- the meme of higher education. Right now the driving force behind higher education is wall street using social pressure to put retards through a sausage grinder that poops out nondischargeable debt

No, its just reactionary societal autism like always. The "SJWs" you see on TV are an extremely small portion of society, >2%. The biggest and most subservient group under ZOG are the right-leaning anti-SJW centerists, and Goy Emperor neo-cons. The kikes know their social engineering, they use the internet to make the SJWs look like a massive group, so the anti-SJW goys can seem enlightened and an embattled minority. The truth is, the largest goybase of ZOG is by far the young, anti-SJW, mgtow goyim.

> >2%
> can’t into math symbols
opinion dusted into the wind

I studied English at Normie State. Obviously the background was liberal but no one really talked about politics much. We read old books and thought they were good. Two of my professors were all pissed about usury all the time. One I think was an ex-Jew (!!!), he said he used to wear a yarmulke but stopped but didn't elaborate. I should have asked but at the time I wasn't Jewpilled and thought (accurately) that religion was a gay hobby for uninteresting self-obsessed retards. Also he studied medieval literature. Wonder if he became Catholic. Or at least realized the "blood libel" was legit.

Anyway, the world has to work. If you don't watch TV the world obviously runs according to right-wing principles. Very rarely would someone find you and jam homo freakiness in your face--that shit happens in gay neighborhoods and it's mostly just the bars putting out rainbow flags. MONEY is what this country, this age, is all about.

No successful or happy person actually cares about politics. If it weren't for the short-term media (news, newspapers, radio) there simply wouldn't be any politics to speak of. And everyone's self-interested too, so the rich (((whites))) in the cities are segregated as fuck from the blacks. It's not like "racism" is suddenly gonna stop, the alternative is niggers.

Again, all politics is for fucking losers, pursue literature, philosophy, money, a bangin physique, hot chicks, and ultimately a stable family life before you give a shit about this dreck.

I've been here all day. I know I should leave but Jow Forums is always right and I love you all and I actually get a little better at writing doing all this shitposting. I just can't quit you.

Sorry to blog

Universities are not fine, shill.

This is honestly the biggest issue I have with higher education (in America). I got a good education, but my (actual) boomer parents told me I could do anything I wanted to, so like a ton of dumb teens I got a liberal arts degree. I learned how to think, and could have easily got into law school with my degree if I wasn't a bit on the spectrum. But there's just too many people my age with crippling debt and no jobs that our parents never experienced and don't seem to understand.

You can still do whatever you want. I also have a lib arts degree I’ve never used. Just hop into to a sales job that’s tangentially related to something you enjoy, figure out how it works, figure out how to do it better, and start your own business.

Some reminders, fellas:

1. Power exists and cannot go away
2. There is work to be done that cannot go away
3. The need to learn cannot go away
Therefore
4. Non-bullshit will always be present in society. Part of non-bullshit might be bullshitting the plebes. But if you're not an idiot you can get to the other side of the bullshit wall.

>tl;dr hide your power level, stop bitching, go to school, study hard, and get rich. or become a scholar and lowkey lay the groundwork for a pro-White revolution,

p.s. NO ONE reads scholarly publications except like two other scholars and guess what, it's their homework and they procrastinate and do a shit job reviewing it too and that's why fat studies exists. Don't sperg, be cool, be smart

Attached: 1517675526275.jpg (1000x1500, 149K)

>NO ONE reads scholarly publications except like two other scholars

I published one paper in my time in academia, and last time I had access to JSTOR it had been cited in a few hundred other papers... I know nobody outside of academia gives a shit, but it makes me feel bad that I left it, but I just couldn't deal with a room full of "kids" and all the stupid politics.

Wow, one-hit wonder. Interesting to hear you say that you couldn't handle the retarded environment. I doubt I'm less autistic than you.

I guess interlibrary loan and a day job it is, for me.

>doubt I'm less autistic than you

Not sure what you're trying to say, but I was surprised that the one thing I submitted has actually been read by that many people.

As a college professor, it has not gotten worse. You just have to stay away from the humanities. Most of the time the people who botch about college are those who fail due to their lack of work ethic. I see this as a science professor. 98/100 students in my class want to be a medical doctor. Truth is that the 2 who did not want to be, but who cared about learning the material will be. The others will major in bio, be lab techs, get paid shit, and will be bitter they did not go to med school.

I call bullshit, I fail 33% of my class and still get great reviews.

I am currently a computer science major at a Texas university, and I've never found a professor or another faculty member openly talk about politics, much less far left sjw politics. I think it's just a meme, unless I can get confirmation from other uni students

Higher education is full of kikes.

There's always been anti-intellectualism in this country.

Has there ever been a time when people were openly telling people not to pursue higher education, though?

if you are, ya gotta be a wolf in sheep's clothing. Everybody thinks that higher education is about community, but I only care about my classmates if they are:

1. Talented
2. Motivated
3. Interested in bartering labor on projects

If not, I don't care about you being in my class and I am not paying for your education. I'm paying for mine. The people who are there to fill quotas usually quit industry and are getting meme degrees.

I went to 3 universities, one in America and two in Europe

In America a big part of it is a backlash against high tuition and student loan/debt. 50k a semester might be worth it for Harvard but it sure as fuck ain't for tier II and below.

As someone who saw the difference between being an undergrad vs being a grad student... don't overpay to be an undergrad. the research university (read: all of them) exist to plow money into patentable inventions thought up by graduate students and above. undergrads exist to populate the bottom of the pyramid and feed that.

The beautiful thing is, it works, or at least it did until the communists realized they could latch onto that humongous budget and do what Lenin taught them to do - get paid to be a professional revolutionary. the same thing is currently happening in the health system because of Obamacare (massive increase in paper pushers that don't educate/cure people). The effect on actual research has been showing too, witness the rise of "degree mill" academic journals that essentially publish anything you send them without peer-reviewing it (I was a journal editor for a year)

Oh and the plowing of literal billions into luxury dorms and sportsball teams mainly to prop up construction/ real estate markets locally, which is partly political jobs for the boys and partly the private sector being coporatists.

In Europe, where you're not allowed to fleece undergrads for this pyramid scheme, the communist part of the equation is much worse, and people are essentially guaranteed admission and free tuition, which basically means that you can go to college as long as you have a pulse. needless to say, outside the super elite colleges, you're lucky if only half of your class is sub-100 IQ, which is the same problem with public k-12 education and it has the same solution: autodidact/homeschool with the wide variety of educational internet content like khan academy for math and reading wikipedia all day.

Popular amongst the Irish too. My grandfather always used to rant about academics and the "duplicitous bastards" colleges produce. He never trusted a man in a suit, can't blame him though.

>get sociology and gender studies degree
>go into debt to pay for school and housing while in school
>go into further debt once you realize you will never have a career that requires the above degrees
>think you're smarter than everybody else just because you went to a university that charges out the ass for information you can literally Google

>these days

Has there ever been a time when higher education was a ends rather than a means?

I went to 2 universities in America and 1 in Europe (France), and agree with pretty much everything you wrote. Still, I think everyone should have access to health care and be able to go to college if they work for it - my experience with the French system was basically the same as the lowest tier American public high school system, which is that most people just don't care, so they don't work hard.

This desu. I was going to become a manager but then I realized how much I would have to deal with people I despise. The only real money you can make outside of trades is in finance, STEM and sales, and that's only if you're actually good at it and enjoy doing it.

also this, the cancer that is curve grading has been taken to the extreme of nobody doing any work and C- being curved up to A+.

getting a trade is all well and good in theory, but i lived with a car mechanic with nothing but a high school diploma for a couple months and i gotta say, i wouldn't really hang out with him again. maybe i'm classist but w/e

I doubt that I would be better able to handle "kids" and stupid politics than you.

You can't deceive the ignorant masses if they aren't ignorant.

I went to an university around the time you did as well. The sjw people were around but they were never taken seriously. It was always "Ok I can see your point. But stop being a bitch and live your life" Sometime in the past 11 years people decided that they had a point and it all snowballed out of control from there. I am legitimately interested in figuring out it how it happened. Bonus points if someone can point me in a direction that does not just start with it was the Jews.

anti-thought: bad, but also not real

anti-intellectualism, as in against a specific people, professional intellectuals? based and redpilled!

>*a specific class of people
But I guess it kinda (((works))) the way I had it lol

The price you pay for higher education is grossly overvalued compared to the actual benefits you get from the education and credentials, since:
A lot of the knowledge you get from higher education can be attained from the internet.
The value of a graduate degree has plummeted thanks to the oversupply of degrees generated from the student loans bubble, which keeps growing.
Unless you're majoring in a very complex specialisation (microbiology, nuclear physics, neuroscience, etc) the cost/benefit is not there.

google yuri bezmenov and then google debunking him and etc. and then try to figure out if his scripted interviews on American television have any semantic value or not.

>not just start with it was the jews

Why would you want a false answer

Op is one of the central tenants of post modernism based on Derrida's traces? Because in my shallow understanding Derrida's traces is all interpertations of a text are equally valid because words have no real meaning. This is retarded. So can Isay the sun is green and since I think green is yellow I would be correct?

ironically the french system is the most unforgivingly darwinist of them all. ENA is taking the top 1500 graduates of the BAC and not a single one more for any reason other than being in that 1500.

elite schools, whether it's an upper east side kindergarten or a grad school, are always good. even legacy dumbasses who are only there cause their dad is a saudi sheik who donated a whole building add something (networking) to the place.

anyway to answer OP's question, you also have to realize that most people aren't actually as dumb as elites think they are. If degree mill U is a shithole and you send 1/3 of your population there, chances are they will realize its a shithole and stop giving academia/academics the authority they used to have. They've seen the wizard of Oz behind the curtain and they're not impressed. Pair that up with "experts" like the geniuses that said Italy/UK would collapse if their referendums went the way they did (protip: they didn't collapse) and gems like Hillary has a 98% chance of winning... they did it to themselves.

text vs. reality. interpreting a text is like shining your own light on it. shine a green light on a rainbow you get a subspectrum of green. shine a blue light, etc. nothing to do with what color the sun or the sky or the grass is IRL.

Stem here.
>Thought I wouldn't deal with people I despise
>Star ups are the cringiest places i've ever been.
>Find more liberals than in high school.

fuck this.

Well that makes more sense to me. When describing reality and it would be a skewed by our own perceptions. But I think there is a completely valid description of reality which we can not (may not) be able to achieve but we can get arbitrarily close to.

If you go to college for a meme degree you are effectively just tossing heaps of shekels into an open flame when you could have been working debt free. Getting a degree that isn't a meme is the real challenge

there’s nothing wrong with deconstruction as a textual device, it’s actually pretty smart. What’s wrong is when people try to extend the idea extratextually because they’ve been reading books so much that they think everyone lives in a book.

100% true.

I think it also go political. I dont want to say THANKS OBAMA, but man it sure did go to shit under that guy man. Easily one of the worst presidents in American history.

Got**

I don't like them because they seemingly get indoctrinated to use the maximum amount of five dollar words possible, not because of necessity but in order to obfuscate and mislead in order to manipulate those they deem profane. Often it's just a phony display in order to create the mirage of competency when the people who do it are really just painfully average followers who do nothing but repeat what they have heard but generally speaking lack integrity or the capacity to think for themselves. Or at least the balls to actually state them. Meanwhile even shit opinions get polished up like a turd with their gang language essentially pulling a confidence trick on whoever isn't initiated.

user, remember that the alligator wants to eat the bigger number.

As crazy as it sounds I think the black actually achieve something with those BLM marches. Except it was mostly white tranny denial of science acceptance kek.
Yeah there is no doubt that these philosophers are smart but people always strech ideas until they make no sense. Philosophers tend to get to cerebral with their shit

*the blacks

>Confusing marxism with post modernism

Stopped right there, lobster its a fucking retard and lacks a lot of cognition.

i too went to jew college
took "cultural studies"
gay puerto rican prof
fails me for being white cis male

I think his claim is that elements of postmodernism was incorporated into a Marxist agenda which maybe incompatible but is none the less useful to push their cause.
