Most young people aren't buying houses because they're choosing to live in expensive areas, apparently prefer renting because it's more immediately convenient, not saving money, and not taking out mortgages. I bought a house in college and continue to rent it out to such young people and bought a place in FL to go back to when I'm in the states. Both are decent single family homes with 2 full baths, a garage, and a yard. Neither cost more than $140k and neither is more than a 30min drive from a major city.
