Soon they run out of useful roads and buildings to build so he does the dumb thing where you just continue building roads and malls that don't drive productivity but boosts G spending. Problem is that some of this was financed in foreign currency (to the roaches) and the other bit was that Erdogan believed that printing more money was a good way to deal with funding. This led to inflation raising and raising which devalued the currency leading to the foreign currency denominated loans becoming more expensive to pay off. We then enter into a stage where he could fix it. He could have raised the rates at the central bank to a large degree, he could have stopped printing so much excess money to fund G spending of useless infrastructure, he could have asked for an IMF loan and worked to limit the (useless) construction boom. But because he is a "strong" man he had to be macho and do dumb stuff which is great for me. Soon (in October) there are a bunch of foreign denominated loans that are due. That should provide another big drop in the Lira value. First half of 2019 also has a bunch of big payments. Going to be a good time (for me) to make some guilt free money.
