and as for the Harlem Hellfighters, they were only in frontline combat for the very last month or two of the war. So out of a 4 year war, they were in direct combat for a month right at the very end when all the armies were tired and beaten down. Before that they were merely doing support work and labor duties for the French army. If any army units from WWI should get attention, it should be ones that survived the entire war

They fought in an unnecessary conflict. The US should have stayed out of WW1 as a belligerent and should not have even given equipment to Britain and France.

The most the US should have done in WW1 was act as a mediator to negotiate peace and to provide humanitarian aid to civilians. Doing so would have prevented the botched aftermath of WW1 which led to some of the worst parts of WW2 and the botched aftermath of that war as well.
