You don't understand China's political and economic situation if you think the US is threatened at all. Hundreds of millions of Chinese are not treated well, and as they gain more economic freedom these groups will inevitably demand more political freedom. Additionally, China sells more to the US than the US sells to China, meaning that the US essentially supports the largest portion of Chinese economy (America's biggest trade partners are Mexico, Leafland and Japan). This all means that with the trade war between Trump and Xi escalating, lopsided tariff power on the side of the US, and the SWIFT system being dominated by the US dollar, China's government has no choice but to bend the knee or the Chinese population will go revolutionary overnight. 1 billion people would sooner rebel against Xi and the party than doom themselves.
