Yeah, the Romans did a pretty good job
This was the precursor to the modern Proto-Indo-European theory, and it was pretty accurate for how often it is ridiculed. Especially for the knowledge at the time.
They pinned down the origins of Germanics in Denmark and Scania, and realised that Indo-Europeans had a common ancestor. They connected the two and deducted that Germanics must be the original 'Aryans' (now called Proto-Indo-Europeans.) In truth there is not any European people that can claim to be 'more' of an inheritor of PIEs
Thank you ancestors!
translate pls

tl:dr
germanics came to italy and spain and got skin cancer

nope
maybe this sounds retarded
but I've never quite understood why different art on pottery could define a culture or a people. Like making some scribbles in your wet clay means nothing at all, right? How could you put any kind of value in terms of "a culture" which is basically hundreds of different small groups who make somewhat the same kind of scribbles on their pottery
>but I've never quite understood why different art on pottery could define a culture or a people
At the time scribbles on pottery, hell even pottery itself, was high tech. Does that help?
It doesn't really show that much, but a style of pottery is associated with culture and the best we have. It at least shows which people got into contact with which other people.
It's not like there's a myriad of other things to choose from and people just focus on pottery for some reason.
That's also not what PIE theory is based upon.
desu can't even wrap my head around that. Copper working is high tech, bronze is high tech. But working with wood and clay is like the lowest tier stuff that any kind of people who want to survive innawoods will need. To make scribbles in it is already kind of pointless, but I can see why people want stuff to be beautiful and shit. But just because one group is using like straight lines and another is using curly lines. Actually, why isn't there a group making some pottery with straight lines and some with curly lines and some with triangles? Why does a group or tribe continue to create the same kind of art on pottery?
PIE is based on genetics? or linguistics? From where do you think they originated? Personally methinks it's either from the middle east or from central asia. Or do you think they originated in Europe?
Thanks for introducing Latin alphabets to us
>desu can't even wrap my head around that. Copper working is high tech, bronze is high tech. But working with wood and clay is like the lowest tier stuff that any kind of people who want to survive innawoods will need
I suspect that if I dropped you in a random uninhabited forest you wouldn't be able to find a source of clay, let alone work it to something useful. And neither would I tbhwym8.
Think of clay as you would of panting: you can easily distinguish Italian Renaissance Realism from French Impressionism from Spanish Cubism. There's much more to paintings than just colors on a blank background, and similarly there's much more to clay than the shape or surface pattern of the vase.
From my broken German:
>The Nordic race and the Germans as culture bearers
>Creators of ancient Egyptian culture and builders of the pyramids, probably northern Europeans
>Sumerians, the creators of old Babylonian culture, probably also Nordic
>Creators of the oldest Chinese culture (Yan-Schao culture), probably also nordic race
TL;dr we wuz everything and sheeit
>Y-DNA
will this meme never die? The middle and bronze age history of europe is completely fake
Stop that shit right now. We are better than this WE WUZ KANGZ Shit, one further proof that the Nazis were literally the Niggers of Fascism.
What we need, is a European Identiy. And I'm not talking about the cucked shit Identity the EU tries to push on us. I'm not talking about the EVROPA Identity with random allegiances to ancient empires either. Hell, I'm not even talking about Neoroman Identity with Italy as leader, fueled by repressed gay lust and military power. I’m also not talking about Christian DEUS VULT Larpers Identity driven desperate Christians in their try to stay relevant. I'm definitely NOT Talking about Neopagan Identity, who just want to yell at stones and protect "muh germanic races". Certainly, I'm not talking about Facist White Europe Identity and Lebensraum Bullshit either. I'm not even considering talking about "Festung Europa" and Identity equiped with dumb buzzwords, made up of undiscplined faggots, crying about dumb shit instead of allready bringing the fight to the fucking sandniggers either.
What I'm talking about is nothing less than the European Imperialist Jingoistic Colonialistic Identity fueled by the Legacy of the Old World, reaching out to conquer the world and spread its Leitkultur, kickstarted by the Romans, carried on by the Knights and Templars (1 Constantinopolis Burned), carried on by the Spirit of the Enlightenment and growing Nationalism with full understanding of the human races abilitys and driven by both cold and precise logic and hot and mighty emotion, which of course leeds to Patriotism, Builder of Nations and Slayer of Tyrants, fueled by the simple fact, that we know that we are better than others and should spread our ways and revive the old world for its wise and fair rule once shall be over this planet again.
Aren't Nordics and Dinarics Proto Indo-Europeans?
Dinarics are Pre-Indo-Europeans
>heh, you're wrong about that kiddo
I've managed to find river clay and using a fire managed to harden it up. It was ugly as fuck and was incredibly brittle, but technically it worked. We did it in half a day, but apparently you should fire it up for a few days before it gets hard.
I do get the point you're making, it's just from what I've seen from pottery, there just isn't anything that special.
Pic related is corded ware culture. But it's just horizontal lines with triangles basically...the difference between Renaissance and Cubism, and Corded Ware and like Bell Beaker (I just googled that) is the fact that paintings can be incredibly complex and diverse, whilst pottery art styles end up just being different in terms of horizontal lines or scraggy lines.
I don't see how this could define a culture.
the uhrheimat has pretty much been confirmed to be eastern Ukraine via archeogenetics, iirc
>PIE is based on genetics? or linguistics? From where do you think they originated? Personally methinks it's either from the middle east or from central asia. Or do you think they originated in Europe?
Consensus is roughly Ukraine as the origin. The original theory was based solely on linguistics, Since then some excavations have further confirmed it occurred, and recent developments in genetics make it basically established history.
>>Creators of ancient Egyptian culture and builders of the pyramids, probably northern Europeans
kek, how they did they even came to that conclusion? Egypt was always afro-asiatic in every aspect
even the most extreme we wuzim can't justify that
i wonder.. did the western romans went full WE WUZ REPUBLIC the last decades before they fall? does it always happen?
what were the eastern roman thinking of their western brothers at that time?
Hahahahaha
patterns on pots may very well have been a sacred ritual back then, it is quite possible deviating from established patterns for pots may have been a great offense or sacrilege, and explains why the pattern is so consistent and why we can infer a meaningful culture from it
ceramic pots may very well be useless today considering for how cheap you can buy one from Ikea but in 3000 BC it was an entirely different ball game
>what were the eastern roman thinking of their western brothers at that time?
Most likely how best to profit from the suffering and misery of the west.
well they tried to recuperate italy from the goth and it totally destroyed the italian peninsula (gothic wars)
they also did the vandalic war, wich brought back the most important part of the western roman empire
>afro
>always
Shit mane, no. Egyptians were their own thing, and after Ptolemy they were just Hellenized Egyptians. But yeah, that's some insane we wuzism on the map.
you don't know what "afro-asiatic" mean, do you
that was years and years after the demise of the west
my original question was - what were they thinking at the time of the west last breaths
Aye, I messed up there. Blame it on being so used to kangz shit that the first thing that comes to mind is the wrong sort of afro. kek
>Pic related is corded ware culture. But it's just horizontal lines with triangles basically
The lines aren't that straight and parallel. A different culture, with slightly more advanced tools, could have made them more straight and parallel. Or the clay might be more or less refined. Or whatever.
Don't put the cart in front of the horses: cultures (=the collective ways of thinking and acting of specific people) differ in technological levels and know-how which results in the production of different kinds of pottery and the different kinds of pottery can be used to draw the lines between different cultures therefore "defining" them.

you mean the 455-470 period? there is no real "fall of Rome" as a decisive moment, it was a slow process, there isnt a direct, big shock that would have made Constantinople react.
I mean the goths that conquered italy were very well integrated, and they were irionically more roman the the eastern romans that came in 525
I think it's a mistake to say that the western Roman empire felt, it just evolved. Pic related.
The goths were pretty much roman by the early 6th, they took roman customs, langage, organization etc.
and many roman(ized) kingdoms spawned in all north africa from 430 to 700 ad

you should read "People and Identity in Ostrogothic Italy, 489-554", I can't sum up the whole book, it's a bit complex
books.google.dz
The roman civilization evolved, but never died directly. 476 isn't the end of the western roman identity or people.
"Barbarians" were already holding the empire togother since a long time already.
Hitler hated Austria himself. He probably knew that it's full of Slavic admixture
Austria should be hated, they've historically been more worthy of the Eternal Anglo meme than the Anglos.
