You guys are going to think I am trolling, but I really am this stupid.
What did Nixon actually do? I have been trying to read about watergate and all I get is this long convoluted shit about the plumbers and breaking into an office and nixon firing people.... and then resigning.
What did he actually do? Did he tell the guys who broke into the office to break into the office because if so I don't see anyone talking bout that during the extensive scholarly research I have done reading blogs and wiki articles for the last 20mins
Something something recorded conversations of voters in a hotel
Jayden Ortiz
Is there actually even an answer to this or are you guys serious.
Is the answer something like "he was friends with shady fucks who he knew were doing shady shit and he was benefiting when they brought him info but he didn't specifically know watergate was going to happen"
Jonathan Harris
He used the CIA to break into the DNC because he was scared shitless of research Howard Hughes had given to the democrats.
he recorded himself saying mean things about jews and negros. If it were not for the Watergate tapes he would not have had to resign.
Bentley Wood
>What did Nixon actually do? nothing illegal, he was manipulated into resigning by MI6 according to John Coleman
Jaxon Stewart
>He used the CIA he hired his own guys because he didn't trust CIA and secret service
Logan Young
>he hired his own guys because he didn't trust CIA and secret service What do you mean? Do you think the CIA or Secret Service would have broken in to the democratic headquarters to steal documents to help the other political party?
that's frowned upon
Hunter Anderson
Some political operatives were caught having broken into Democratic Party's headquarters and trying to wire tap the same. The Dem's office was located in a hotel called Watergate at the time.
When it turned out these people could be tangently connected to the Nixon campaign, the Democratic leaning media went nuts, and pounded Nixon over it.
Nixon was a paranoid fuck. He taped all his conversations. Someone decided to erase 18 minutes off one tape. That probably had to do with political agents getting caught and strategies to handle the fall out.
Democratic leaning media pound Nixon over the erased tape. Drive down an unpopular president's rating to near zero. Nixon resigns ahead of a Congress impeaching him.
Compare that to all the chicanery that we know the Democrats have been up to lately, and we see it was simple child's play.
Ethan Evans
>Jow Forumstards pretend they know everything that happened in a war 70 years ago >cant even tell you what happened 40 years ago during their parents lifetime Fucking retards

Are these quotes real? Just curious.
Blake Morales
Nixon was a paranoid man partly due to the Red scare (he was a strong defender of McCarthyism), his beef with the fbi and the cia, and his urge to prevent another election lost (Nixon was convinced that Kennedy rigged the election of 1960). He got some people to wire tape his political opponent in the 70's, despite the polls being in his favor. Two jews from the Washington post (a cia front) found out about this and made this into a scandal. Nixon could have easily deflated from this, but Nixon chose to deny the allegations and even went as far as to limit the press investigation. This only made things worse since the kikes were able to pin Nixon as a dictator who who violated muh freedom of the press. This and the conditioning of the investigation, ruined Nixon's image and forced him to retire before he could get impeached. Oddly enough, what Nixon did is nothing compared to what his successors have done. In many ways Nixon was right about almost everything.
Tried to stop the tapes from getting leaked and told the FBI to not investigate Watergate, got cucked by the scotus. It's really trivial crap that only boomers on Jow Forumspolitics give a shit about.
Brody White
I remember this when it happened. The Committee to RE-Elect the President, AKA C.R.E.E.P, used money from undisclosed Republican donors to pay ex-CIA men to break into the opposition's psychotherapist's office in the Watergate building to look for dirt, but they got caught. Nixon never knew about the original break-in at the time, but afterwards was involved in a second plan to cover up the first one, which he stupidly discussed in the oval office and recorded himself doing so on his own, massive tape recorder. The judge trying the burglars heard about the tape recorder from one of the many witnesses and subpoenaed every tape Nixon ever made, including the one where he conspired to pervert the course of justice. Impeachment proceedings were begun but Nixon resigned before they went very far, so he was never impeached.

Bentley Russell
He fathered a fucking faggot

Nothing compared to Trump.
Samuel Howard
Big if true.
Joseph Clark
It doesn't make sense in today's context because newthink tells us that wiretapping trump isn't newsworthy, nor is the NSA getting busted spying on literally everybody
Isaiah Sanchez
The whole thing is deliberately obscured by the media. All anyone remembers is "Watergate was very very bad", "Nixon did Watergate", "Nixon was a dictator".
All three points are wrong. 1. It was just wiretapping. Literally nothing in comparison to the shit the DNC have pulled, especially in 2016. It was minimal. 2. Nixon had no fucking idea about it. It was a bunch of people related to his campaign that did it, but Jews managed to frame Nixon to be involved 3. Nixon was the last great President the USA had. Jews hated him for it.
Hunter Lopez
Nixon was the first president to make backdoor deals with special interest groups in exchange for their shilling, mainly labor unions.
Nixon developed the very tactics that democrats use to win elections today.
Nathan Brooks
Basically Nixon was talking with his team about ending an FBI investigation into a break in at the Watergate Hotel as a matter of national security. That being said, he could have maneuvered out of it. In fact, if he hadn’t taped himself none of this would have happened.
He probably did orchestrate some illegal scheme. So did Obama and Clinton, but they’ll get away with it because they were smart enough to not record themselves doing it.
Nathan Peterson
He tried to cover up other people's fuck ups.
Hunter Thompson
Nobody in this thread knows the thing that brought him down. When he finally released all the tapes (except for the 18 minute erasure), it showed that he personally approved paying hush money to the watergate burglars. THAT'S what made the republicans in congress turn against him, ensuring his impeachment.
Gavin Gutierrez
He obstructed justice. Obstructing Justice is a crime.
Colton Phillips
>All anyone remembers is "Watergate was very very bad", "Nixon did Watergate" OP here, I have no strong opinions about watergate and was just trying to figure out what the fuck happened and this is what I found online
Andrew Morales
>. When he finally released all the tapes (except for the 18 minute erasure), it showed that he personally approved paying hush money to the watergate burglars. why don't people just say that, seems simple enough
Owen Anderson
Nixon ended the war in Vietnam and he paid a serious price for it. Nobody undermines the CIA and the military industrial complex.
Asher Campbell
The Deep State of today does everything the Washington Post accused Nixon of doing 45 years ago Also Joe McCarthy was correct..
Carson Phillips
Cause as much as people talk shit about Nixon I am guessing just as many or more, has no idea how the whole Watergate scandal went.
BECAUSE ONCE THE REPUBLICANS TURNED AGAINST HIM IT ENSURED HIS IMPEACHMENT.
Jeez, is this slow bus day?
Gabriel Russell

Every day on Jow Forums post-election is slowbus day
Tyler Edwards
But it didn't ensure his impeachment. He was never impeached. And Hillary should be President because she had a 98% chance of winning, but here we are.
Ryder Moore
OT, but of interest. Nixon created the 'War on Drugs" as a way to lock up hippies so they couldn't vote / demonstrate during the '72 campaign. The 'War on Drugs' originated as a means to stifle political dissent while the CIA imported heroin from the Golden Triangle to the USA in order to finance the illegal military operations in Cambodia.
As of 2010, est. $1 trillion spent on the 'war on drugs,' not counting the employee costs (health, retirement, et c.) of bloated bureaucracies spawned by Nixon's baby.
Cameron Cooper
And Richard Nixon also signed the RICO act into law which may soon be used against many, many people in our Government and MSM, which is sweet irony if it happens.
Camden White
This honkey know wut up
Joseph Myers
War on Drugs was started to fight the total deterioration of the US Fighting Man. Drugs were destroying the US infantry's ability to fight. The fact that waging that war had the benefit of hurting Democratic voters was a bonus that was worth pursuing to GOP.
Carter Green
The senators counted the votes and told him what the result would be. He resigned before the vote.
Some private citizens broke into a hotel room at the Watergate Hotel to pry open a file cabinet and read the Democrat convention schedule.
Nixon denied it. Nixon has 28 seconds of taped conversations that were erased.
That's Watergate.
Isaac Baker
And again, he did not get impeached. Only 2 presidents have been impeached in United States history Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton.

Did you read the thread first? Silly question.
Lurk more, faggot.

school started early in your state huh

Nixon got caught trying to cover up for people who broke into Democrat offices.
Cooper Sullivan
>Nixon got caught trying to cover up for people who broke into Democrat offices. Is it reasonable to assume that he would only do that if he was involved and knew about the planned crime before the break in?
Adam Martinez
i basically said what you said 10 minutes later, go fuck yourself if that hurts your feeling. here's your (you) because it's obvious you need the attention
"In the interview, conducted by journalist Dan Baum and published in Harper magazine [1994], Ehrlichman explained that the Nixon campaign had two enemies: “the antiwar left and black people.” His comments led many to question Nixon’s intentions in advocating for drug reform and whether racism played a role.
"Ehrlichman was quoted as saying: “We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course, we did.”
But don't let published facts by a participant in the creation of the policy get in the way of your bedtime story sweetie.
Isaac James
Yeah, it was a myth that blacks and hippies did drugs. Great detective work there user.
Lucas Wright
I went to school during an era where history something good to expose kids to. Now it's hidden from them. Take away the monuments and hide the history, and we get to do it all over again.
Easton Cook
>Ehrlichman explained that the Nixon campaign had two enemies: “the antiwar left Did Nixon not run on the campaign promise of ending the war
Joseph Campbell
And kept the promise.

Jews went after him and he threw in the towel, possibly because his life was threatened.
but he opened china to the west which basically destroyed American manufacturing leading to the EU gaining power

t. reddit The Controlled Substances Act was written by a Democrat and passed Congress when both houses were dominated by Dems. A Republican President passing it meant nothing at that time. It's a similar story with Bill Clinton's 1994 Crime Bill.
Jordan Long
then why would the antiwar people be his enemy
Kevin Gomez
"Antiwar movement" was really just communists. The same communists he was attempting to expose.
Carter Wright
Nixon sabotaged LBJ's peace talks during the 1968 election, so he could win.
He pissed off too many deepstate and media faggots.
Nathaniel Nguyen
>Muh sabotage Somebody telling Thieu that he's being sold down the river isn't fucking sabotage. Thieu had no desire to be screwed over by LBJ anyway.
LBJ DID however order the FBI and Postal service to spy on Goldwater's campaign, but that will never be acknowledged by the establishment because muh Civil Rights Act.
Ryan Phillips
>I really am this stupid.

he ran on an antiwar platform
Jaxon Edwards
Yes, but the stop the war, hippie faggots that are commonly associated with the anti-war campaign were communists. Nobody shows Nixon as a leader in the anti-war crusade, they show the pot smoking leftist hippies being pumped out of Berkeley.
Camden Long
Could only be said by someone who has NO IDEA what Watergate actually was.
>Yes, but the stop the war, hippie faggots that are commonly associated with the anti-war campaign were communists. Nobody shows Nixon as a leader in the anti-war crusade, they show the pot smoking leftist hippies being pumped out of Berkeley. i literally do not understand
Juan Ramirez
Nixon ordered people to break into places and steal documents. One was a think tank, can't remember which one. It's on tape and it was on the Ken Burns vietnam documentary. I don't think anyone proved he ordered the watergate break in or even knew about it, Liddy kind of pressured the others into letting him do it and I believe that most of them probably thought it was a bad idea.
Nixon did some other stuff too. He called the Saigon gov and told them not to go to peace talks that LBJ's admin had helped set up. This was before he was elected. His VP was also taking bribes.
Nixon was a crook. He was also pretty smart and redpilled. I look at him as a guy who used immoral means to achieve moral ends, or at least attempted to. I'd take him over any modern 'liberal'.
Henry Morris
>Nixon ordered people to break into places and steal documents. I have never seen any proof of this, not saying he didn't or wouldn't but I would think if there were proof of this it's all anyone would ever talk about re: watergate
Jaxon Parker
>What did Nixon actually do?
The Nixon administration use "dirty tricks" to destroyed the presidential campaign of Eugene McCarthy, which left the much weaker Gorge McGovern as the Democratic presidential candidate.
Effectively, Nixon stole the presidency in 1972. This is what he should have been impeached and hung for.
Carson Cook
Does anyone have any recommendations for books about Nixon? Dude fascinates me
Liam Lee
You can see from the thread the answer to your perceptive question is indeed no one seems to actually know what he really did wrong.
Except we all know the jews were unanimous that he had been A VERY NAUGHTY GOY.
So he probably accidently did something good.
Jack Robinson
Not watergate, this was a think tank. Nixon was crooked as fuck and had teams of 'plumbers' who broke into places. He recorded himself talking about it.
Nixon was crooked. The red pill is that you have to be a little evil to gain power, and without power you'll never stop evil.
Grayson Butler
Based.
Commie sympathizers were livid the Chinese chose us as trade partners over the Soviet Union, had the situation been reversed the Chinese market would have strengthened them considerably.

He trusted the Rockefellers.

>Effectively, Nixon stole the presidency in 1972 Was it the Russians then also?
Jose Lopez
Nope. Nixon despised communism with the power of a thousand burning suns.
Ever heard the saying "Only Nixon could go to China"? His hatred of communism was so strong he could be trusted to negotiate with them.
