You will need to work during college as well to keep it going. This is exactly what I did 6 years ago. I worked near full time starting at 15.5 (fast food), and moved to part time when college started. Also, I was able to quit my job in my senior year of college to become an intern. And this was with zero grants or parent assistance.

The only ones that can't afford to do this are people unable to plan ahead and control their spending, or try to go to top schools without scholarships.

I started working at 14 and saved until I was 18 for school. I didnt spend it except on gas, and I only came out with a few thousand. Schools are minimum 4000 a semester. A few thousand? You're bad with money. I started at ~ $7.25/hr. I put aside $450/month earmarked for school, which was easy even not factoring raises and still covering entertainment/gas. The plan was to "only" store up $11k to start school, but I ended up with a hair over $17k because I took summer jobs/gigs. If I had 2 more years like you did, I would have easily had $30k+.

And if you can't afford your local university, move. Smart money management also includes shopping around.

How am I bad with money? I spent none of it on anything except for gas. At 14, I made like 30 dollars a day, weekends only. Same at 15. 16, I got s job bagging groceries that paid maybe 150 dollars a month. At 17, I got a job that paid max 250 a month. At 18, I went off go school.
