You could have said the US but even that has is still far from ideal and has became more unlivable in certain places as it becomes more multicultural (Detroit being a shining example). Brazil went through a gradual process of change. Ours was relatively sudden. You can go and Google for UK immigration graphs and look at that massive spike in the Blair years. Brazil is a giant sprawling country with a very small population density compared to us. We are a small collection of islands, with an increasingly built-up urban landscape. While Brazil isn't in a state of civil war (it did have one in the 30s though), it is notoriously rife with crime from murder to drugs. The sudden rise in level of crime we see in London is just another day in most Brazilian cities. Like most other Latin American countries, its political climate historically has been very unstable with coups and dictatorships.
