Marijuana, on the other hand, is illegal, you can go to jail for, and has a lower addiction threshold as well as is more likely to harm the user of the drug itself, rather than those around the users. Opiates are given out en masse in America, causing addiction and an epidemic of deaths -- unspeakable acts of atrocity toward the American family. These substances are lobbied by pharma companies, though, and the human toll can be quite large.

We need more informed drug policies, rather than policies directly influenced by fear mongering. The war on drugs was a failure. We need to come together and regroup, but with a Republican majority -- it's not something that can easily be done.

In case it wasn't clear, I was referring to organized crime. not small time junkies. The organized guys try to keep a low profile so they can sell their drugs and weapons unmolested.

I've gotten pulled over driving an unregistered vehicle with no insurance and all I got was a fix-it ticket and a ride from a handsome police officer. It was scary and I think he realized I was terrified, but he was really nice, although stern too. We talked for a little while on the way back to my place about being from the midwest and stuff. He insisted I called my Dad and ask for him to help me get the car insured that day, which was pretty embarrassing, but it wasn't a terrible experience or anything over-all, though. I guess what I'm getting at is, I think my neurotic fear and respect for them gets me out of a lot of things it probably shouldn't with cops.
