why is college so expensive in burgerland? the fuck are you guys trying to do? it's like 40,000+ burger bucks to go to some of these universities, who has that kind of money?

Random completely unrelated thought, but I never realized he actually isn't jewish.

And the funny thing is a person has that kind of money, they probably don't need a degree.

>who has that kind of money?
Me. I went out and got a job so I can pay for my college tuition.

Wtf why do you need money for anything? Why isn't everything free?

Women

>need college for a job

what a retard

um, people who aren't poor retards? and poor people are retards, it's why their poor in the first place

Can a burger explain something for me?

Is the american college loan system like the UK loan system in that you don't actually pay it off as a loan but it is garnished as a percentage of your wage when you get a job?

For instance if I had a job I would have to pay 9% over anything I earn over 21k (I think it's 21k). So far I have paid back nothing of my nearly 60 grand loan and since I do not plan to get a job I never will.

Get a job that doesn't require college
Save up some money
Go to college
Get a better job

Why do celebrities have "epiphany" levels of high schoolers?

repayment is based on income, but if you don’t have a job they come after your other assets instead. they’ll freeze your bank accounts and repossess your home/car for repayment

What you just described is a loan

>is Tom Hanks one of the good guys
No

because they’re being paid six figures by lobbyists to send these tweets to millenials. it’s nu-advertising

Tom Hanks = Reddit
Tom Cruise = /tv/

Because barely any of them have ever lived in the real world and are philosophically stunted because of it

No it isn't. A loan you have to pay back regardless, the agreement UK students have is that you pay it back when and if you can and if you don't pay it back in 30 years it is wiped clean.

That sucks

what's mel gibson?

It's a loan. If you're not gonna pay it back because you're poor, it's still as loan.

>borrow money under the proviso you pay it back when you’re earning a certain wage
>it’s not a loan

It’s a loan with extra steps, dumbshit

>why is college so expensive in burgerland?
It isn't, community/state colleges are very cheap but they don't market themselves.

Jow Forums

is it just me or does everybody thínks he is a poet of some sort since the day of twatter?

>why is college so expensive in burgerland?
educated people are a threat to authority. And we wonder why someone like Trump was elected lmao

>tricked by the government into thinking he's getting free money

If you are sick, you need money to be healthy. But you need to be healthy to get money. Genius indeed.

>accckkkkhtuallllyyy teeeeccchnniicaalllyy

It isn't a loan as a normal loan is understood you retards.

America retardness and inability to adopt basic socialdemocratic measures that are already the norm everywhere are completely destroying capitalism in the place with the most influential culture in the world

Based Americans

It's literally a loan

>inability to adopt basic socialdemocratic measures
Such as?

If that makes you feel better about your financial state in america, sure.

Thanks, Tom "Net Worth $350 million" Hanks. Your viewpoint on the American education and job system is truly valued.

>bank is retarded enough to give a loan to a homeless person
>homeless person can't repay it
>bank gives up on collecting repayments after 30 years

Apparently this isn't a loan

because the federal government guarantees student loans to banks, so the banks can give them out to who ever asks without fear of losing money, meaning that the colleges can keep their outrageous prices because the idiots who take up these loans will pay them

by your own logic, you have no right to discuss BLM if you're white

It’s a loan

Sadly still worth it. In a perfect world that Good Will Hunting "ya wasted 200 grand on an education ya coulda gotten for $1.50 in late fees at the public library" would be true.
But that's not really what counts so if you spend that kind of money and come out on the other end a Harvard graduate you're going to be ahead of almost everyone.

>hi can I borrow money
>ok you pay it back
>get job
>pay it back

Unless I’ve grossly misunderstood how my mortgage (ie: a massive fucking loan) works, it’s a loan.

I just don't consider hiring anyone who doesn't have a college degree.

Except I don't think Tom Hanks has ever suffered damages from the education and job system whereas white people are at least inadvertently affected by BLM.

ok muhammad

"Free" college tuition, universal healthcare, paid maternity/paternity leave, +20 paid vacation days per year, the list goes on

we could group up and pay for everything together, that would make it so no one has to pay for anything

>borrow money
>pay it back
>making it income dependant on repayments doesn’t make it a loan
You did an arts degree didn’t you

Don't you usually have to pay back loans?

good luck trying to score a well paid office job without being a harvard graduate

In the American loan system an education loan is a form of nondischargable debt. This means that even if the debtor files for bankruptcy it is impossible to discharge. The only way out is payment. No matter how much is owed.

Follow a wave of mass defaulting on loans(prior to the Obama administrations limited student loan overall) the US began offering a more available system of Income Based Repayment. If a debtor makes under a certain income(In the US it's $12,500. Litterally poverty wages) the payment can be reduced to as little $50 a month. However above that the debtor usually pays 15-18% of their net monthly income. Prior to the Trump administrations own alterations to the student loan system, after 20 years of payments, regardless of amount, the loan would be forgiven. Under Trump, all forms of load forgiveness have quietly been restricted or eliminated.

At the moment most Americans between the ages of 18-35 are sitting on between $20k and $400k in student loan debt. In the years that follow it WILL have a massive impact on our economy as an entire generation loses what amounts to a home and auto loan paying for massively devalued degrees.

Get a job and save up. Go to CC for the first two years to save a few bucks. Don't waste your time on a useless degree.

Not everybody is born into rich families, so stop expecting to live like Stacey and have daddy pay for everything.

>here's a thousand bucks bro just pay me back when you can afford it

A loan

>>bank gives up on collecting repayments after 30 years
the only difference is that student loans have almost zero effect on your credit rating, but if you just stop paying in america you'll look worse than someone that's bankrupt

loan forgiveness program is better than anything euroshits have anyway
>work for the government
>all loans are forgiven
>get a pension

How do you plan on getting a job with no skills and a non-existent Curriculum?

You’ve agreed to pay it back with the SLC, so yes, it is a loan.

The major difference being they write it off after 30 years if the balance isn’t settled. And to be honest, if you’re still not earning enough by 41 to pay it back you have spectacularly failed at life

Only universities are expensive as hell. They nickle and dime for nearly everything, even for things you don't bother with like athetlics. Community college is the smarter route as it allows you to maintain a part time or even full time job, get the classes you need done, and go out into the workforce for your degree. I make more than most universtity students who paid or got loans for their B.A. while I just went to a community college and worked.
Unless you get a full ride to a university, then it's a waste to go to one.

Lending people money is always a risk. Sometimes they can't pay it back. However its still a loan

>it's why their poor in the first place

Attached: 1516805860887.jpg (1280x720, 209K)

you can get quite literally any entry level office pencil pushing job with just a community college degree in progress on your resume

>It's a rich guy that lives in a gated community cares about poor on social media episode
Truly brave

>american students have to take out loans from banks and private companies

Attached: 1534034636619.png (688x578, 32K)

I make 15 dollars an hour just sitting around filling out forms at an art company while in college.

not to mention if you're outside of a major metro city and you're a top student at a community college, you'll likely attend for nothing with the scholarships and grants available

>Europeans and Canadians have to pay 85% of their income to the Government for "free" services

tom hanks worked for years as a waiter
because of this he was known to give four figure tips, wait staffs were known to do some bad things to make sure they were the one to serve tom

At least Americans understand that they're taking out loans. In nanny states like UK the convinces them its free money then stealthily steals the money back from their paycheques

everyone in this thread is talking about federal student loans user. no one - no one goes to private banks
yes, the american government is this hawkish towards loan repayments

>in burgerland

it is this expensive every fucking where
you just don't see who is paying in most countries and in most cases it is the taxpayer
where the fuck do you think the money for those huge university buildings and wages for the staff and their retarded "projects" is coming from?

also, US citizens with college education still make a lot more money IF they get a job, than most people outside the US is making
their 40k or even 100k is actually not that bad when you start 60k instead of 30k like most people do here

the retarded part is accepting every retard and/or minority into it and dilluting the job market and the value of a college education

>56%ers still don’t understand the difference between “free” and “free at point of service”

>America's retardedness and inability to adopt faulty, inefficient, taxpayer-funded programs that are the norm in countries around the world where the taxpayers are being bled dry by an overbloated and corrupted government is destroying capitalism
what?

Pretty much. Anyone who realizes there’s not a pizza based pedophile ring... just the church, probably didn’t vote for the Russian backed Game Show Host.

it's just a banking game. it will all collapse soon just like the housing market.

their.....THEIR!!

We have a similar government loan program in Australia as UK does and i find it insane that an 18 year old can click a button on a computer and commit themselves to a $50,000 loan at 20% interest for a humanities degree that will be automatically deducted from their McDonald's paycheque in 4 years time

Only in Burgerland

>it is this expensive every fucking where
Fake news

>flyovers

it's a scam

>the retarded part is accepting every retard and/or minority into it and dilluting the job market and the value of a college education
guess what successful companies do with the racial demographic data they receive with job applications? minority ones go in the trash

first world problems, in my country you would get such jobs only with nepotism

>+20 paid vacation days per year
yuropoors really are a bunch of fucking layabouts. this is why you'll never be #1

SHUT IT DOWN!

It was always expensive. Universities were for rich nobility. Poor people tended crops. Middle class paid a guild to learn a trade. Upper middle class were blacksmiths, lower middle class were in low trades like shoetanner. Nothing has changed.

>Burgers need to use Credit to be able to thrive in society
worse than communism

Which is back again. Yay

cool glad I don't live in a third world shithole and good to know a third world shitskin is the one trying to criticize america

Twitter screencap threads should be a bannable offense

Makes sense, in a closed space like the earth or the universe there is no waste. Because waste makes haste.

>it is this expensive every fucking where
No

Parents are supposed to pay for their kid's education so their rich kid can care for them when they retire. Now that people have surrendered all of these responsibilities to government, this is all out the window and families are just people who happen to share your dna

I never got this.
I see americans talking about positive/negative credit on here all the time.
Like what the fuck does that even mean lol?

These things are non-existent here in Europe.

TOM NOOOOO!

This. I got in shit with my student loans, bad credit etc, got a good job finally and my credit is still shit. I make 80k a year and still can’t qualify to buy a house since they’re all 400k+ now. Thankfully the economy is about to tank so I am just saving all my cash and building my network.

America is Idiocracy.
The universities are a scam, they have niggers graduating who don't understand basic algebra or English grammar.
They make boatloads of money with admission fees and College Football, and since those are 'non-profit' they spend all the money on luxuries like stadiums that are bigger than those of Real Madrid or Manchester United.
They could easily afford at least quartering their fees, but they don't need to because young people don't really know what else to do and go into debt for the middle class status quo of going after some worthless degree.

But I have a well paid office job with zero degree?

You won't be saying that when you hit 50 and have to break your back for a job

Gov upped it to 25k last year.

Not that it mattered, i was losing all of £30 a month which was less than the interest iirc

get a load of this guy
