I watched this liberal show, and despite the shit jokes and lib propaganda the over arching idea checks out, and he actually does a decent job teaching the audience about how Trade works.
Yes we know trump misunderstands trade and tariffs.
All economists and all conservstive politicians told him not to do this but he doesnt care.
Ian Robinson
>Guys, im a conservative who is meh on Trump.
ok rabbi
Charles Myers
if there is one thing he should be good at isn't it this? he based all of ideas on Peter Navaro who is an economic extremist who no one agrees with ever, and Trump picked him as his main economic advisor? If nothing else the "im going to get the best people" has been a complete bust. this shit is pretty bad
Juan Murphy
nigga, im not Jow Forums conspiracy theory driven, white genocide, praise Nazi goofball. Im a conservative who understands Trump fucks up a lot. And I praise him when he does good things.
Camden Moore
Yes he is making mistakes. The video actually isn't bad as you said, Trump will save 200 jobs and lose 2000.
Carson Perez
Do you know who Bastiat was?
Joshua Cruz
>basic bitch conservative talking points Cringe. Trump is actually doing everything right on trade, which you would understand if you had any deeper comprehension of our economic situation.
First, the US is one of the least integrated economies in the world. We export the LEAST of our goods and services of any major country. We cannot lose a Trade War because there is almost nothing to attack.
Second everyone we are talking about renegotiating Trade with is already tariffing us. The point is to convince them to drop their tariffs because we can hurt them more than they can hurt us.
Third, Trade in the US is not actually about Trade, it's about Security. In 1944 we held the Bretton Woods conference not because we cared about global free trade but because it allowed us to bribe together a coalition of nations against the Communist USSR. We agreed to take a hit to our economy in return for subsidizing the Europoors.
Well the USSR is gone. We won. Now we don't need to prop up their trade empires anymore. Let Germany export its shit to Greece and France or whatever but from now on if we get hit by tariffs, we will hit back unless the perpetrator brings something to the table in return.
But white genocide is actually real, just because we're not being carted off to gas chambers doesn't mean we're not in the initial stages of a replacement agenda. You're not a conservative, it's too weird you wouldn't understand the threat facing Europe and all European founded nations like your own. Maybe the phrase is too strong for pearl clutches, but the rates of migration, the birth rates, the male suicides, the subverted media and education, even our film and tv, every damn thing we have has been forced into being far less white and there's only one reason for that...

Economists are wrong about 50% of the time.
If someone says they know all about trade and how it should be done, theres a 50% chance that whatever prediction they're giving, will be wrong.
Jason Brooks
well the is always reddit for brainlets like yourself. why don't you go there?
Asher Anderson
Then you are not an educated person, therefore you are not a conservative (and you should not talk so much about this trade subject anyways).
Read about Bastiat, subsidies, oranges, how China is using their population and currency as weapons against the west, then we can talk.
Jace Campbell
Please make sure to participate in today's mayosimian hate thread! Have a good day folks!
I agree I am conservative also but Trump is just the stereotypical stupid loud disgusting American its so embarrassing. He think's he's an alpha chad but when you compare him to a real chad he's just a cuck. Release the pee pee tapes!
Trump wants zero tariffs so any criticism you have applies to the whoever started the tariffs, not trump and his retaliation
Bentley King
Peter Zeihan sends his regards! ;)

>implying comedy central or john ol*ver has anything to say worth listening to when it comes to politics
Jeremiah Thomas
economists are the biggest pseuds in academia, even compared to womens studies
Jeremiah Green
> liberal defending trade what a time to be alive. I thought free trade was exploitation and what not.
Trade makes us richer but sometimes we give up money to get something else like sovereignty. Personally and economically there we have to ride a small line between doing everything ourselves and outsourcing everything someone else is better at than us.
Camden Perez
>t. Econ 101 major

Gentlemen. Clearly. Clearly. Trump doesn't know what hes doing on this subject.
Watch the video. We can hate John Oliver and still listen to the facts between the bullshit.
I doubt that if you need to use to Last Week Tonight to understand trade
Thomas Cox
the video wasn't for me, it was for Trump supporters who don't know the ABCs. I gave the vid credit for explaining it to plebs in a clear way
Levi Smith
Free trade is the biggest meme ever. Literally no country has ever become prosperous through free trade.
Nathaniel Brown
Olivier doesn't know about Bastiat. It's like learning math from a teacher who doesn't know who Pythagoras was.
Stop learning stuff from comedians. It's not real knowledge.
Isaiah Harris
>I watched this liberal show, and despite the shit jokes and lib propaganda the over arching idea checks out, and he actually does a decent job teaching the audience about how Trade works.
good goy, tell them youre like them goy. tell them youre like them and you like our ideas. good goy.
>Watch the video. I don't want to watch the video. John Oliver is probably omitting important information; that is propaganda 101.
Jeremiah Robinson
Yes free trade is great, you may not like it but transporting hundreds of tons of fruit a week via airplane from all over the globe to throw most of it away is peak efficiency. Leftists should love tariffs, they lower co2 emissions.
Hunter Anderson
>a 20 minute video of appealing to authority while telling everyone this one guy is wrong about economics and also a retard while providing only the bad facts about the trade policy That's a really cool video with some hot opinions you've got there
Matthew Fisher
>teaching Yeah, that's the point of the show, to teach you the right things to think and what things to mock. It's reeducation in the guis of entertainment.
Luis Thomas
How low IQ do you have to be to preface your posts with "nigga,"?
Economic Collapse is coming regardless... I like to believe (optimist) that trump is preparing us for big economic transition away from central banking cartel. New currency system where government and banks can't control it.
Nathaniel Morales
this is what i hope also race war now
William Richardson
This, it's basically private hypnotisation
Gavin Collins
indeed, it's embarrassing if a comedian knows more about economy then a president
Gavin Miller
Everyone feels that some sort of massive change is coming and with change comes chaos. I think the right response is to become as self sustaining as possible which includes reducing reliance on foreign trade.
William Cruz
>Guys, Im a leftist cunt who sucks cock
There op, fixed it for you
Charles Robinson
Guys *laugh track* I mean Drumpf *laugh track* He is spending a lot of tax payer money while cutting taxes *boo track* Is the United States one of his Atlantic City casinos? *big laugh track* Small hands am I right *giant laugh track*.
Jeremiah Watson
exactly now i will laugh at anyone with a different opinion
William Campbell
>be germany and have tariffs on veggies and other food things from all over the world >WHY TARIFS ARE A BAD THING WHEN TRUMP DOES IT AND WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TRADE FEAT. CURRENT YEAR MAN AND WE NEED TO BAIL OUT BANKS BTW SO WE CAN HAVE 8% INFLATION A YEAR WHICH IS A GOOD THING BECAUSE IT INCREASES PRODUCTION IN THE US DUMB GOY
Daniel Ward
For one thing, his predictions seem to be wrong considering unemployment's at an all time low and doesn't seem to be increasing. Secondly, of course americans know having to buy cheaper shit from China is better for their savings, but being self-dependent on our own labor rather then some 12-yr-old chink in a factory is better.
Lucas Morgan
I'm guessing he's just prattling on about failed free trade dogma?
The US does not need trade. Period. As a percentage of GDP, we are the country LEAST reliant on global trade, bar none. We have record low labor participation and U6 unemployment is still at 7.5% (the U3 number is bullshit). We have no need for trade.
Trade for the US is about security, not economics. After WWII, we decided that in order to fight the Cold War, we needed an alliance. We partnered up with western Europe, the oil states in the Middle East, Japan (which we occupied), Australia and New Zealand, plus Canada and created a huge free trade zone while simultaneously opening our markets upo to them with very little hindrances to their imports. This allowed our allies to export their way back to prosperity. In exchange, we secured the global trade routes and got the right to build bases and shit everywhere. So to reiterate, we only ever engaged in that trade to help our friends get rich again, and we did it by carving out pieces of our own economy and giving them away.
We won the cold war, though, and now the security alliance is irrelevant. Terrorism or minor wars in the far corners of the world are not enough to warrant a massive trade and security arrangement. Our enemy is defeated, and it's time to end the Cold War economic and security arrangement. The problem is, pretty much everyone else on earth is dependent on the US consumer market being open to them so they can keep exporting their way to prosperity. Without it, pretty much everyone else on earth immediately has an economic crisis.
The US has excess labor, excess manufacturing capacity, is the world's most capital-rich country by a wide margin, and could easily replace all imports within a matter of a decade or less. If we were to cut off all trade except for the goods we literally can't get here (some rare earth materials, some fruits, specialty wines; shit like that), within a decade no one would even remember we ever traded with the world at all.
