It's such a wide open interpretation of what constitutes a campaign contribution (a standard private party NDA in this case arranged completely outside of campaign expenditure reporting requirements) that nearly anything any politician does to protect or improve their public image whatsoever now, under this case's precedent, constitutes a campaign contribution under law. Period.
That's why the Preet Bharara loyalists in SDNY used the taxi medallion shit to force Cohen to plead to the last 2 counts. They would not have held up under appellate court scrutiny Too bad, so sad.
