Because after awhile you realize decision making must be based upon some sort of framework. You realize this framework is essentially the values you hold. You realize that values are derived from stories which display archetypes. You realize these stories are developed through generations and generations of human experience. You realize these values are religion. You realize God is the ultimate ideal and embodiment of these values and God cannot be human because humans are imperfect. You begin to understand the ideals of stoicism. If you've fallen for the Jew hard, you realize there are some actions you do, that you can never take back. That you will forever regret. You realize that these actions are generally in pursuit of the material. You realize that feeling when you put the material above the spiritual and betray yourself. You realize your movement toward the embodiment of these values is your path toward the ideal. This path is self-actualization. This is your ultimate purpose.
