VICTORIA'S SECRET to shut down a bunch of stores

Well this is very strange. People claim the economy is doing well, and yet retailers are shutting down stores left and right. Can Jow Forums explain this disparity? Victoria's Secret is merely the latest retail chain to announce mass-closures, following Mattress Firm, Orchard Supply Hardware, Sears/Kmart, Abercrombie & Fitch, Claire's, Blockbuster Video, Foot Locker, GNC, Toys R Us, Nine West, Brookstone, Guess, Dress Barn, and others.

>Victoria's Secret says it's closing 20 stores this year

>Victoria's Secret plans to close 20 stores this year as sales drop and the brand comes under pressure. Stuart Burgdoerfer, the CFO of the retailer's parent company, L Brands, made the announcement in a call with investors on Thursday. L Brands reported its second-quarter earnings on Wednesday.

>Same-store sales at Victoria's Secret, which also includes the Pink brand, were down by 1%. Pink, which used to be one of the brand's sweet spots, has struggled recently. CEO Denise Landman said same-store sales for this brand alone were down in the mid-single digits.

Amazon you faggot. sage

Slide Thread

We're about a year into recession already, but of course you'll never hear the govt admit that. Keep the bubble illusion of an economy propped up as long as possible, I suppose.

Malls are dying as a business model. The cities have become culturally enriched. Lets say you're Victoria's Secret. You have 2 choices:

1. Keep your stores open. Whites no longer want to go to the mall because shitskins. They have bank accounts and prefer to buy online anyway. The shitskins come in your store and steal your shit.

2. Close your stores. The only shitskins that steal your shit are your employees. What few store customers you had left transition to being online customers. You no longer have to pay for floor space or employees to run the register.

If you honestly believe this, you're about as bluepilled as they come.

Online sales go up stores shut down kys op I shit in the options field

Probably to make room for lane bryant and their ham planet customers

Men in dresses don't spend as much as women do on underpants.

Victoria's secret quality has gone down in the last 5 years. I actually wrote them a letter recently telling them I will not be purchasing any more not out of choice but because of how cheap they have become. I hope to think this is a result of them cutting corners and not necessarily from an economic standpoint. Lots of alternatives have popped up as a result of the economy so I'd like to see the figures on the product section as a whole.

Are you a grill?

the vast majority of women are grossly overweight and aggressively feminist

simple

No one left to fit into their clothes.

Wasn’t Victoria’s secret that she was actually a man? Oh and fucking

creative destruction. the money goes somewhere else. apparently more money, as the earnings report for other retailers like target and walmart would suggest.

Wtf typewriters are not selling anymore! Why is the economy so bad

(((creative destruction))), we’ve (((optimized))) and (((right-sized))) so now only warehouse workers are needed and no retail staff.

This desu.
New spokesperson will be Lena Dunham

OP, do YOU shop at any of these stores? Also, you apparently know what the internet is, so I'd assume you also know what internet shopping is, and I'd assume you'd also know that people aren't buying LESS than they were in the past.

All the stores you listed just got out-competed and rendered obsolete. the "economy doing well" doesn't mean no stores go out of business. in a sense, that can be a symptom of progress.

I don't know, everyone all congregating to Amazon doesn't seem right to me, seems like almost a monopoly.

>We're about a year into recession already

got some sauce?
or amateur economist?

/Thread. amazon will kill all...until they get too big then they will be broken up.

Well, everyone is an Uber/Lyft driver now. Unemployment problem solved.

Holy shit Boomers are the worst.

I won't disagree---Amazon should be watched, but they aren't the only online retailer. Most every store has online services, and besides online stuff, physical chain stores have gotten more efficient and bigger.

Fat women don't look good in lingerie. Most women are fat. Ergo, there is no business in lingerie any more.
Heck I'm willing to bet that traps and trannies buy more lingerie than the "real" women these days who nobody wants to see in skimpies.

Based Amazon. I, for one, welcome our new Amazonian overlords.

No the concept of "Victoria's Secret" was a play on words such that the Victorian Era was a somewhat naughty time when women were still holding onto their chastity and honor on the one hand while depreciating societal forces ((feminism)) were pushing them towards promiscuity on the other. Hence the "secret" was a woman conservatively dressed but sporting heinously sexy undies.

Shit, i planned on buy stock in L-Brands, the parent company of VS, because VS is popular with white girls. Their stock dropped from 50 to 28 recently. Guess ill buy Raytheon.

People said the same shit about Walmart.

This is a slide thread.

Retail closing down means the economy is doing bad? Do you think about stuff before you say it? Consumers just arent spending money on stupid shit anymore. The consumer index is more focused on needs and services. This was happening even when obammy was in office.

This guy thinks the government actually does its job ever lmao

>CEO Denise
there's your problem

Women are getting fatter, having more and more sex, and refusing to get married. Victoria's Secret simply doesn't have an audience anymore, because who needs sexy lingerie in the age of Tinder?

I think it was named in honor of Queen victoria, i think the original meaning of VS was Very Sexy.

>Victoria's Secret says it's closing 20 stores this year
Are those 20 stores in niggerfested malls? Victoria's secret is a popular store to shoplift from.

Great I can't get over the fact that my local bookstore got replaced by them

Attached: 6.png (1006x449, 471K)

good
they can be replaced by someone that actually carries all the sizes that real women need, not just 32B-38D
fredricks of hollywood may be sleazy, but they carry a lot more sizes

vic secret makes products for skinny women, all of their models are anorexic. women do not shop there because most women are curvy and not stick figures. its a failed buisness model that now only works on teens who can fit b cups and 0 size waists.

no one buys clothing on amazon that is retarded.

t. a husband

Attached: 1532032729024.gif (250x250, 3.88M)

Definitely buy Raytheon. They've been recently securing many contracts with the US Military. At least 4 missile contracts that I know of.

>the free market works as expected
>commie can grok it
Imagine my shawk

Victoria's Secret? The same company that's been slowly bleeding out for nearly two decades?
Okay.

How they even get the money to air their fashion show on television? Is it true their rating hit all new low?

YOU'RE IN A SLIDE THREAD FAGGOTS!

ask any boomer (not 30yo) about the sears catalog... it was a big book that came to your house a few times a year... you would fill out a paper, and send a check... 3 months later (longer than china shipping) shit would show up to your house... it was like 2nd christmas. times were plentiful, and "cheap".

forward to 70's-80's malls open up... sure, the price is a bit higher, but thats inflation... you get to take your item home right now, screw waiting for 3 months, and if it didnt fit good luck returning it.

fast forward 80's-90's malls are the internet. drop in, but cloths, furniture, electronics... and junk... also credit cards! oh wow, burn it up and pay it later! Look honey a 25in TV! and a VCR! lets buy it! our children dont need college.

mid 90's-08 oh look, a big box store.

08-12 oh look lets go to big box store to see if they lap top is as nice as they say, then lets check our cellphone and buy the cheaper option

12-18... alexis order me a dragon dildo

back to the catalog economy... but without the wait, and more dragon dildos

They just can't sell enough PINK sweatpants.

Advertisers love selling sex.

>what is a service economy
>what is an industrial evonomy
because knowing is half the battle

Amazon could start retail stores ( these won't need to make money as long as it destroys other businesses ).

>what are online sales
kek what a retard

Girls don't know a fucking thing about how to be sexy anymore, OP. Not entirely their fault, since most of you losers are so sex deprived you'll fap off to anything.

>fredricks of hollywood may be sleazy
they are not, i used to order from them all the time. Their corsets are good quality.

To be honest with you I miss the joy of going to malls on holiday season back in 90's and early 00's, now it feels completely different no matter how much christmas decorations they have, it feels like something's missing

eh. people who have money buy brand labels. thats the only reason why fashion exists. no one wants to wear an amazon tag on their clothes. clothing stores on the ground that dont cater to one specific market will do fine. vic secret is just a failed business model. all their stores are at malls and who wants to try on something when the next room stinks of cotton candy mixed with 30 day old asian fried food

Amazons fucked a lot as well as a generational shift in market trend that took many of these now called traditional sales outlets by surprise.
Same with beverage companies like Coca-cola. Where as Pepsi has gone to the tried and true manufacturing formula of selling cheaper for higher volume.

their ads are sleazy, not their products
they are one of the few places where one can find a 34G

Out of every town I've lived in (I've lived in about 7 the past 10 years for work) only 1 had a mall that was acceptable for me to go to.

The rest are nigger infested shitholes and that's even in decent towns. No one goes to malls unless they are fucking top class.

>millenials too jaded to behave as enthusiastic consumer whores
haha
oh well
pass the avocados

>Fat with small tits

Attached: 1534476306811.jpg (400x400, 37K)

All leading economists disagree. But keep being a faggot. You're good at it.

ah gotcha, fun fact, the were the first ones to make the thong fashionable in the 1920s.

All their stores are in big indoor malls where you have to spent 2 hours walking around to buy one thing. People like to spend less than 2 hours to buy a bra. Malls are dying because of small shopping centers where you can park near the store and don't have to walk around for 2 hours to buy a fucking bra.

thongs are the most comfy undies....g-strings suck and feel like butt floss and all others ride up....but a nice cotton thong? heaven

Agreed, but i really like boyshorts/girshorts.

Ask your gf if she buys her lingerie from Victoria's Secret

Arms>Ass

Amazon does sell Victoria's Secret items.
Also this I'm sure Lane Bryant stores are opening all over the place
>Lena Himmelstein Bryant Malsin was an American clothing designer and retailer who founded the plus-size clothing chain Lane Bryant.
Every time

the future is now old man, we buy our clothes online because of our debilitating social anxieties. even the popular kids do this

Apparently that's the only type of woman into me
That or they have kids

>curvy
i think you mean lard assess.

yeah, but finding quality undies is hard thing anymore
last time I spent the dough for cute boyshorts, they died after half a dozen washings
not worth the $8 each I spent on them
and they were from frederick's!

Notice these two threads were started together right next to eachother? Fucking lying shills

the internet you retard. nobody goes to retail stores anymore they just click and buy pictures on their iNigger8s

saged for being a slide thread if anybody posts after this post you will be banned by the mods

Attached: 1534911821460.jpg (528x800, 94K)

aerie is good, my, body by victoria is good as well, DKNY.

OP lists shit stores and wonders why no one shops there any more.

Victorias Secret turned into super low quality at a high price. Ungood.

Attached: 1534633667325s.jpg (250x250, 8K)

wtf?

>Well this is very strange
Actually, it is not. The closing of stores over the past 15 years, especially the original American stores (such as Sears, JCPenny's, Woolworths, Daytons, Marshall Fields, etc.) was planned. They are destroying American capitalism to show the world how it does not work. They are also destroying American capitalism to install communism, where we have no more choices and thus are stuck with cheap crap made in China that falls apart as soon as you take it out of the box. Also by doing this, they have not only taken away competition but variety. When we only have Amazon to shop at, there is no variety and no quality and they can set the prices to whatever they want because there is no more competition.

Basically the evil commie filth want all of us shopping on-line at Amazon and Alibaba. We will have no more competition, no more variety, no more capitalism.

Isn't it funny how for 15 years all we heard from the Left was how horrid Walmart was/is? How they come into towns and destroy local shops, and how they don't pay their workers enough money to live? Well, have you ever heard a peep about Amazon? Amazon, which has destroyed many more stores than Walmart ever has. Amazon, which pays so little that almost all their warehouse employees are on assistance. Amazon, which treats their employees like slaves to the point the employees piss in a bottle because they don't have time to make it tot he restroom. Never heard horror stories like that from Walmart. In fact, the stories on Walmart do not even come close to the horror stories I hear about Amazon and how they treat their employees and the underhanded way they run their company to not pay taxes and overprice and sell cheap crap from China.

Yet Walmart is demonized, and those that shop at Walmart are mocked relentlessly. Yet the Left loves Amazon and their slave practices. Disgusting commie filth.

This is quite possibly the coldest take ive ever seen on pol.

Amazon is not a backdoor conspiracy to get us into a command economy lmao

what ever happened to Tom?

This. I used to go to the mall all the time. I haven’t been in years. Loud packs of loitering niggers took over.

They expanded their size catalog and now you can find fatties that look like grease stained Five Guys bags with the logo "PINK" on em'. By trying to be inclusive they've lost the edge that gave them the ability to overcharge for their products. Not exclusive = Not worth it.

>amazon isnt funded by the CIA
you do realize if they weren't funded by the CIA they wouldnt be able to make a profit and would go under

I'm guessing what you actually know about business and economics in general could fit on the back of a bazooka joe comic.

truth

Have you ever looked at Victoria secret lingerie? It's literally trash tier. Nothing of value was lost.

Fat mexicans wont buy skinny underwear.

Victoria’s Secret is pleb tier underwear brand anyways

t. panty/lingerie fetishist

he sold myspace for hundreds of millions

>tfw in the mall as a kid with ur mom and sisters and they go into victoria's secret and you're forced to stand there like a little cuck in the middle of the store all awkward as the milfs and teen pusy walks around and laughs at you

""""""curvy""""""

This is true

I am sure they are beside themselves with grief over your poor bio pussy

You girls are hot talking like this. I'm starting to sweat

'
It's simple. Most of them are moving online. Why pay for a brick and mortar store when people are buying stuff online?

But man, those catalogues were gold. Leticia Costa, etc etc

Oh yes, I used to take them and jack off onto the pictures when I was younger, in an era before mass widespread internet porn where you were on dial up and had to download stuff incredibly slowly. I had a whole collection of victoria secret catalogs and SI swimsuit editions that I would cum on and kept them in a drawer until one day my sister and her friend went into my room and found the cum stained magazines in a drawer and made fun of me endlessly for it
