anyway, stories like these are part of the annoying thing that the internet does: it creates an echo chamber. you read a story that links to a similar story, that links to a similar story. Google just serves whatever people are talking most about. it doesn't care about fair and balanced viewpoints. the websites just want you to stay there, soaking up ads, so they will keep serving whatever it is that will keep you clicking.

finally, people post things online they care most passionately about. there is no cost to looking like an idiot, or a monster, or a pervert. They make the most outrageous comments because that is what gets attention. carefully considered common sense is boring.

this all makes it seem like the actual world is a fucking dumpster fire, when it is absolutely not. People think all cops are murderous attack dogs, when most cops are 9-to-5 guys trying to keep the peace. Because these types of criminals don't usually think through their actions, they are simply savages by nature. Also, in Western countries, they are the ones getting paid for relocating. They get welfare, and even if they're imprisoned (especially in Europe), they have free housing and food. It's not even close to being an equal tradeoff with almost starving in a desert.
