That's not exactly how USSR worked, they didn't really stay but they did tended to get back into their countries when they stared a family.

My argument would be based on 2 things. 1. I know plenty of Slavs and they are all traditional as fuck, even those who were born in Australia 2. Most of these sorts of things are majority genetic and environmental variables tend to play 20 - 40% so it is probably similar in this regard.
As for examples, I think we can both find those that go our way. Austria and Italy were both in the Western sphere, yet they are pretty based, while Eastern Germany is Germanic, yet it's based (that example would confirm your argument). So I'm not sure if either of us will convince the other with anything other than anecdotes.
