is like America not annexing Canada. Venus is Earth’s sister planet and just because it has a bit of a thicc atmosphere, doesn’t mean it isn’t perfectly able to be terraformed with a little sunshade and some other effort.
Governments not gearing up to terraforming Venus
the atmosphere is a strong mixture of acids that we use industrial on Earth to dissolve glass.
How long does it take to get to Venus?
You're fucking retarded. Terraforming Mars would be incredibly difficult, and take generations. Venus would be even worse.
Depends on how fast you are going
How fast is it possible to go, with current technology?
How fast is it possible for the human body to travel?
It has a surface pressure of 99 atmospheres, there is no terraforming Venus.
Most is CO2 and CO, dude. The “acids” are the least of the problems.
With current chemical rocket Hohmann paths, 4-5 months.
With nuclear electric propulsion, 1-2 weeks.
>Terraforming Mars would be incredibly difficult, and take generations
No and yes
How fast is it possible to go, with current technology?
about 20 percent the speed of light using a nuclear pulse engine.
>How fast is it possible for the human body to travel?
depends on how fast you accelerate, any G force higher than 1.5 will strain you're passengers bodies and give them heart attacks.
What is a sunshade? What is raining out CO2 to a 3 bar mostly nitrogen atmosphere?
Like ten minutes by foot mate
Are there even any resources on Venus? Oils/gasses?
the planets in the sky are projected cartoons in a floating light orb that lasts tens of thousands of years and aren't real
There is land, which is the greatest resource of them all. And various rare Earths just like on... Earth.
The planet has sulfuric acid storms. Ever been burned by sulfuric acid? It eats away everything it comes into contact with, plastic, rubber, nitrile, stainless steel. It will eventually devour everything.
>generations
>long time
boring. Planets devoid of life should be cracked open and mined for resources not terraformed. Terraformation should be left as an option for already habital worlds with forest/jungles etc
Mars and Venus will never be colonized they will be inhabited entirely by robots
>Hotter planet
>Toxic atmosphere
>Closer to the sun
>Literally nothing of value on the surface
It would be a massive waste of money to even attempt to try and salvage the planet you fucking retard.
>oils
>on any planet other than earth
Oh Annon
Maybe there's corpses of dead ancient behemoths on Mars ripe for the pickings in the form of oil
Ever wonder how many ayys get fucked because their planet has insufficient fossil fuels for industrialization?

Easiest "new frontier" to conquer is the bottom of any ocean. Plenty of room down there, very stable conditions, unlimited power due to pressure differences (water rushes from high pressure to low pressure and you just add a turbine in the middle, pump water out, repeat). As exiting as living on another planet = boring as fuck in a closed facility.
Yea but they adapt.
Don't worry, soon we'll be part of the club
No its litterally impossible until were a type one or two civilization and at that point it would be for shots and giggles. Go farm more niggers for your wife to fuck faggot.
>can’t fix muh global warming
>let’s cool down Venus
>we’ll have to strip the earth of a lot of resources and heat it up more.
>But, it’s venus guys!
>It would be a massive waste of money t
Oh no, creating a second Earth right next to our used up planet would be a “waste of perfectly good imaginary ledger bits”!!
Truly
>the Star Wars generation
Please tell us you don’t buy that?
best they could do would be steam power from biomass. Without fossil fuels, most of them will be pre-occupied with agriculture and will never reach the population density needed to maintain modern infrastructure
very possible, only fusion can keep this game going
Why would you think we cannot stop global warming on Earth???
>imaginary
You’ve never worked, have you?
I'm sorry, so you're saying it would take 1-2 weeks for a manned space flight to Venus?
So how long would it take a human to reach Venus Mr. Spock?
>I'm sorry, so you're saying it would take 1-2 weeks for a manned space flight to Venus?
Yes
Just take a left past the bridge, continue straight and you should see it coming up on your left hand side.
You're fucking insane. Kill yourself. xDD
> Tums
Wouldn't adding a base neutralize the acid?
about 3 months
You're fucking insane. Kill yourself.
lol no, whats you're take then?
Can we?
Are you the German that wants to crash titan or some other moon into mars?
Insane how? It’s not like a secret how electric propulsion works. Look it up.
There's still no evidence that oil comes from the corpses of ancient animals goy.
also, do you even realize how insanely difficult it would be to reach Venus by foot? You would die from old age before even getting close
Yeah, of course we can. But nobody wants to, really nobody wants to.
No, I don’t think so.
Terraforming is far beyond our capabilities.
>electric propulsion works.
You might need to rephrase that
It is just beyond our willingness to do.
>There's still no evidence that oil comes from the corpses
There’s plenty of evidence that supports it being biomass though, user.
That’d probably include the corpses of ancient animals.
Ok... I believe you
>ethane and methane = oil
- American education
In the sense that the energy requirements are magnitudes ahead of what we currently produce. We should just focus on building orbital habitats around earth and the moon. That's our first step
You cant terraform Venus.
Its too close to the sun.
>In the sense that the energy requirements are magnitudes ahead of what we currently produce.
How much do you think the production of a thin film m2 of solar sail costs in terms of energy?
I've made a mistake. I'm running away now.
So? Have you ever been on a beach? Ever used a sun shade?
>ethane and methane = oil
>- American education
>also, I’m a dummy, who doesn’t understand natural refining processes.
The gravity alone would kill you. This idea is terrible.
Surface temperature is 460c, 4,6x the temperature it takes to boil water.
The gravity shich is 91% of what it is on Earth? How would that kill me?
I think he was referring to atmospheric pressure. It would be like breathing water
What does that have to do with terraforming venus?
sun shade
Again, what is a sun shade? Obviously you need to cool the atmosphere and let the CO2 rain down. Once you put Venus in the shade, it will radiate heat 24hr a day and lose temperature rapidly down to 30C when most of the CO2 rains out until the pressure gets down to about 20 bar... then the temperature falls further and more CO2 can rain out and eventually freeze on the surface in the oceans.
There's poison gas clouds on Venus you tard.
What’s a sunshade?
So?
Venus also doesn't have a magnetic field, any un-shielded life would die
How do you propose to create sun shade the size of planet earth?
Once you create it and place it how do you place it? If its removed the temperature would rise again.
>manufacturing a sheet of thin material so large as to shade a planet with the desire this will transform the planet into earth like conditions.
Absurd. I'd need a week to list everything wrong with that idea.
No please explain how "natural refining" converts gas into oil.
Why? It's a real propulsion system. He's talking about nuclear powered ion drives you ignoramus.
For that matter, reactionless drives are a real thing too.
its possible, but the planet rotates so slowly that one side would still get cooked.
What would the specs on such a planetary parasol be?
the pressure on the surface of venus is like being 1 mile underwater on earth. even if the atmosphere wasnt toxic a person would be crushed instantly. Venus also takes about 180 days to rotate once on axis. because sections of the planet are in the sun so long the surface gets up to over 500 degrees making the planets surface hotter than mercury.
Venus is hell and will never be of any use to humanity. by the time we had the tech to terraform the planet ftl tech will be Childs play to us
The human raise isn't going to be terraforming jack shit any time soon, it's not even worth thinking about. If anything we will be living in highly terrifying space bubbles on the moon and mars, and possibly Titan. And I doubt much will happen there it will sort of be like the bases we have in Antarctica. Some scientists doing tests.
Sulfuric acid, yes. Perfect to convert it to water.
>south american intellectual struggles to understand how shadows work
human raise = human race. I'm not retarded, that was autocorrect.
just connect a vacuum from venus' atmostphere to mars' lmao
You don’t need a magnetic field, a 1bar atmosphere nitrogen / oxygen is enough to shield you, as ozone is building up in the upper atmosphere.
The only thing no magnetic field does is blow away your atmosphere over millions of years.
Even if I suspend my disbelief around the enormous feat of engineering shading a planet would be, let's say its pulled off, what makes you think simply cooling venus will make it earth like?
On the other hand, the high density atmosphere means that oxygen and nitrogen are both lifting gases, and pressures and temperatures at 55-60km's, just above the sulfuric acid cloud layer, are earth-normal. Furthermore, the gravity is 91% of earth's, and the upper atmosphere jet stream rotates around the planet in about 24 hours.
So what I'm saying is that we should just terraform venus' upper atmosphere and build bespin cloud cities held aloft by the power of bouyancy, which works for sailing vessels here on earth.
good points
it just makes it so you don't die immediately after landing on the surface.
Venus is a pipe dream we should start with the moon
>are a real thing
Theoretical drives aren’t real..
Not one has been made and test to functional capacity.
>ignoramus
I’m talking to Trekkies, ffs
>How do you propose to create sun shade the size of planet earth?
It must actually be larger than Venus to shade it completely. You build it, then but it on L1. A m2 weighs like 5-8grams, so for 1 km2 we are talking several tons.
>Once you create it and place it how do you place it? If its removed the temperature would rise again.
A solar shade can use the sun’s pressure to fly to L1 from LEO. At L1 it needs to be held in place by a counter mirror slightly before L2 which puts a counter pressure on the L1 sun shade. As the sun mirror before L2 is not in perfect balance (it constantly is drawn towards the sun), the force pushed on it from reflecting sunlight to hold the L1 shade in place holds the L2 mirror in place.
It would be large.
You can live in the upper atmosphere there right now, it's only like 70*f
