>phycology
anyway, look who raised them

>look who raised them
You could say the same thing about boomers

learn how to spell you dumb retard

I agree, millenials are worthless trash and half are covered in tattoos/piercings and dress like faggots and just look like they were exposed to s*y in the womb. Millenial males are low test homos and millenial women are all STD ridden sluts.

t. 23 year old boomer

no

Indeed, communism was about to be eradicated in Europe and boomers parents stopped it, and let the world devolve into a nuclear race. Great job all around

You're a millenial too you fucking Quisling cuck.
I'm 26 and I'm considered one, and generations are rarely so clear cut that one point in 3 years precludes you entirely from the stigma of a group.
No matter how much you say millenials suck, you are one.
Being vocal to your older coworkers about how much you hate people your age isn't maturity, it's being a suck-up.
Fuck you.

Only white people are like this

>hating on vapid hedonists makes you stuck up
If you function on a 5th grade level, I suppose that's right

>gets phycology degree
>why cant I get a good job
Why is psychology considered to be a bad profession?

um no sweetie, I'm a Gen Z boomer through and through, my character and mindset is completely alien to that of the average millenial. Millenials are like another specie to me.

Its a junk science and 90% of the people that get in it are crazy women that think it works

Yeah but you can still get a job no? It's not like a philosophy degree or something
And it's not that the entirety of psychology is junk, only recent years no?

>The US Census Bureau recently released a study correlating college majors with salaries, and the news was not good for Psychology majors. Psychology (counseling psychology in particular at an average annual salary of $29,000) were among the majors with the lowest salaries

psychologytoday.com/us/blog/cutting-edge-leadership/201105/why-study-psychology-if-the-salaries-are-so-low

Sucks. Everything I find somewhat interesting is a shit job.

Why do you think psychology is interesting?

I'd like to understand human nature and the inner workings of the mind, ofc. In order to understand this world, I need to understand people.
I also like Criminology, History, Philosophy naturally, the Arts - all worthless apparently.

real talk:
its that way becuase counseling is a mothers profession, like teachers and nurses.

while nurses are more versitile on their knowledge base, councelors were a profession to suppliment the healthcare industry after all our vets cameback with shellshock in world war 2.

a counselors salary is ment to suppliment the bread winners salary. like a wife is supposed to support her husband.

take into account you cant even become a legit counselor until you suck the liberal academic cock, and pay up for the masters degree. and considering avg salary of counselors. it is evident that counselor is a wifey material type of profession.
otherwise its a horrible disparity as the only people that can afford to be counselors are rich affluent trust fund yuppies, yet the highest demand for couns ling and social work is the poor. gives a huge disconnect between clients and professionals, and often results in canned responses half assed efforts and a huge amount of sympathy but little to no empathy.

those who wish to get into the counseling profession should look into starting their own religion or consider joining the ministry or becoming a reverend. as there is alot of red tape you can by pass by having a "faith based" vs secular practise.

the men that have an interest in psychology usually go for marketing and advertising instead of counseling.

consider too that the profession is a vast majority female.
many people also prefer female counselors to male ones.

What about research? Counseling is not the only job you can get from a psych degree.

agree except for dog part, if they decided to get a dog they need to take responsibility for it. if they cant afford the 4k then it's just another dumb decision to have gotten the dog to start

Im sure working in a nursing home or serving food to the homeless doesnt pay very much either.
Where's your empathy user? :(

>dog they need to take responsibility for it
Why not just take it out back and shoot it?

research
again is either marketing and advertisers
or it's universitity labs.
alot od businesses employ i/o firms to syreamline processes and handle employee inefficiencies and other issues.

or you can be a maverick counselor and publish a book on your methods and success rates.
like all the pop psychos out there
like dr spock
jbp
and those transpersonal hippies

Phycology is a religion in itself to large degree. An expensive one as well. Most psych majors I had met seemed to compartimentalize everyone into certain types of personities. As if these couple of types were set in stone. It was like talking to palm readers.

>phycology
dude oil companies are working with algae every day as a possible bio fuel source. You just need to target your offering to the right company or government organization.

>older than 11 and on Jow Forums
why even live

unless you're an administrator to said nursing home
or homless shelter

like all health professions
diagnosis is the first step

people tend to have similar issues and the same interpersonal problems keep popping up.
so like Freud
you end up pathologizing behaviors and thoughts

not to mention that you can't bill for treatment unless you have a diagnosis.

so a large part of psychology is labelling people
mainly for billing purposes
also consider most people are diagnosed after 15 with a counselor,
might work for medical ailments.
but it often takes more than 15 minutes in a clinical setting to know who a person is.

personality disorders/characteristics are thrown around by alot of people.
and undergrads who are salivating for identity like to toss these labels around like nothing
like
bipolar
psychopath
antisocial

personality ailments are those that are the most damaging to a productive and compliant society.

if you really want to help them
give them a safe place to stay
give them firm boundaries
and cut the fuckin bullshit

>I'd like to understand human nature and the inner workings of the mind

You don't need any formal schooling for that. Plenty of books are available. I, too, enjoy learning about human nature. I understand it better than my sister who has her Masters in Psychology. She's a fucking social worker and hates it.

The idea that only college can impart knowledge is a big problem. Read some books and studies. Get into a trade where you will work with groups of people since you like seeing what makes them tick. As you move into management positions, you can learn about your subordinates and figure out how to motivate them. It's actually quite satisfying. And trades pay well because no one is doing it, so there's chronic shortages fucking everywhere. You'll out earn these idiots going for their toilet paper degrees and you won't be saddled with tens of thousands of dollars in debt.

I want a universtiy degree only because it grants me the authority, theoretically, to conduct experiments and practice criminology. I understand that it's not the place to gain knowledge, I don't like the system at all, but that's the world we live in.
I'm already in marketing tho, and I don't intend to go into debt for a degree. I'll probably just try to get the most wisdom out of my current job as it directly relates to psychology as well, as was pointed out ITT.

>>why cant I get a good job
meanwhile some of us can't do that regardless of major

You sound truly upset, user

>Why is psychology considered to be a bad profession?
It isn't. You can't do ANYTHING relating to the field without a Master's degree in counseling. To be a psychologist, you need a PhD. Psychology is one of the most popular undergrad degrees because it is interesting. However, few people get the doctorate.

Add a dual major in statistics.
STEM nigger.
STEM.

The BLS isn't a very reliable source on salaries desu. Anyways, those are undergad degrees. Anybody who wishes to work in psychology will need a PhD.

Millennials are unironically the worst generation. They say this about every generation, but I've never seen a more self-entitled group of people. Bitch bitch bitch, moan moan moan. You aren't guaranteed ANYTHING in life. Nobody owes you anything. It's hilarious how they think that luxuries are rights. Anything *I* want is a right. It's not even about survival anymore because anyone who wants free gibs gets them. Phones are a right, internet is a right, transportation is a right, etc, etc. I'm kind of between generations, but I remember everyone in my school (other than the minorities) working their asses off because after being a kid during the recession you knew that everything could go to shit quick so you better prepare now.

t. 20 year old boomer

Testing (IQ, disorder, etc.) is a major source of income for psychologists

.

>because it is interesting.
no its not

>because it is seen as easy.

Most end up doing it after dropping their first choice and many still drop out of it all together when they realize effort is required.

Wrong.

Never said it was easy, just that it is no surprise psych is one of the most common undergrad degrees.

It's not easy but it is seen as easy, it's the main reason people flock to it.

what is interesting about junk science?

>Junk science
u sound butthurt. You may not know this, but studying the human mind and behavior is more enjoyable than doing math.

>actively hates people that don't directly affect his life
why are insecure neo-cons so worthless Jow Forums ?

>a counselors salary is ment to suppliment the bread winners salary. like a wife is supposed to support her husband.
What a load of rubbish.
Real talk: it's that way because modern society overvalues absolute rubbish professions. We are narrow minded and only want concrete short term results.
In that context it's no wonder that the most important professions are looked down on

>but studying the human mind and behavior

Your mommy is your problem. You find comfort by displacing your self (mommy) hate to the outside world

How is studies not be repeatable a "pop statistic"

No

That doesnt make any sense
