Your voting is different, you vote for a specific party/person for an entire area, then all those areas are put together to see who has how many seats in parliment or whatever.

We have different votes for different areas, we also have representative share instead of simply winner takes all first past the post. We can also vote for specific persons, see pic related.

1) Vote SD just to strenghten them and watch the uproar, see how it goes. It might not be as bad as you think. One step at a time. Yeah, I know they're not ideal, especially to you.

2) Vote with your heart but still realistically, and vote AfS. They're more radical while still not untouchable to Swedes. They have potential to grow and influence. They might not make 4%, but they'll still gain state support and so on at 2% or whatever.

In Germany every Party stand the same piece of paper, alphabetically ordered. You get the ballot from the voting helpers and get into the cabin alone, safe from looks. You fold it after you made your mark, and throw it in the ballot box. No one could ever know what you voted.

That's probably how most election systems work. In some places, like here, you aren't even allowed to take a selfie with your ballot paper or take it with you (preventing you from selling it).

I havent been in a voting booth for ages, but i think theorically, yes you're supposed to take one of each and go in some private space with curtains, where you put your vote in an enveloppe. (even if no one say anything if you take only one) then you go show your ID /voter card and put the enveloppe in the box. if you put several ballots in the enveloppe, it doesnt count
actually not sure if there any an enveloppe, anyway you cant put more than one ballot in the box.

I voted the other day. At least the ballots were turned facing a wall so that people couldn't really see which ones you picked. There was still this old woman who glared at me and had her head turned obviously trying to decipher which ballots I was picking up.
