We have insanely lax gun laws. Even more lax thank you think. In most states there is no background check for even buying an AK47 at a private sale. No permit, registration, or license required. Guns cross state lines easily and states with strict laws like California and Maryland border Arizona and Virginia. No requirements to report stolen firearms, no checks for buying ammo or magazines. No bans on buying multiple weapons at once etc. No country makes it as easy to buy military grade weaponry like the US. States are getting stricter and stricter though.
all these sorts of statistics are an extreme abuse of numbers. in terms of homicides by guns, yes the US is far ahead of others. but in actual overall homicides, the US has less per capita than the global average.
not to mention comparing the US to cherry-picked 'developed' countries is extremely inaccurate. countries like Luxembourg, Austria, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany are very different from the US in terms of conditions such as living conditions, economic equality/equity, and surrounding nations. poverty, drug use, and gang activity is far higher in the US than in damn near all of the EU countries. not to mention, all European countries listed on your infographic have no borders with third world or developing countries; whereas the US has a long and often loose border with Mexico where drugs and gangs often sprout from or are imported from other Central American countries. and because there is a lot of economic and social influence between neighboring countries in basically every region in the world, these gang-related and violent elements from Central American society are able to make it into the US, whereas countries like Germany are surrounded entirely by peaceful neighbors with low rates of crime, or are completely isolated like New Zealand.
