I've been in Italy several times (close and cheap) and there's a huge difference between north and south unlike Iberia, where it's more about individual's heritage and not geography. Here you can easily find a blonde Andalusian and a dark skinned Galician. I always saw really light Italians in places like Torino, Florence or Milano and pretty dark ones in Naples, Palermo and Bari.
