The winning system is not to form a new party with the goal of electing MPs, but rather to sway one or other of the existing parties (whichever is most vulnerable to you) in your direction.
Form a party or not, field candidates or not, it doesn't matter.
Politics is downstream from culture. In a country with only 2 parties, and where entire governments are elected on the outcome of a few key marginals and a few thousand votes in each, all you need do is make enough smoke and noise at the grassroots level to make either party believe that an election could hinge upon your issue and your followers.
It is a gift, not a curse.
Once you have a movement like that you can then move to take-over a party, to bend it to your agenda.
This is the way to achieve what you want in a 2-party FPTP system where elections are mostly closely fought in a handful of seats.

Not really, and I'm generally someone who'd vote conservative - however I'm specifically having my head turned by Labour because of some of the economic advisers they've brought in - being anti-bank is something both the left and right agree on - the left because it hates the rich and the right because it hates parasites.
However it's the left which is the more dangerous to the financial system - we saw it with Bernie and Elizabeth Warren - if Bernie had gotten in or even if Warren had been Hillary's VP they would have beaten Trump, but they didn't, because Hillary ran on a platform of identity politics whilst being secretly pro-banks.
