I think a lot has to do with general cultural rot and decline in the West, combined with further atomization of the individual to remove their roots and Tradition. TV, mass media, hollywood, school and "university" indoctrination are the main vectors that are used to spread these trends. I also wouldn't be surprised if the effects are much more pronounced in cities compared to rural communities (since rural community structure defends more against cultural subversion).
