All passive hobbies are bad. What I think makes anime one of the worser ones is the absolutely massive online support network it has. It's probably easier to get sucked into anime than collecting stamps. Not that you couldn't also get REALLY into collecting stamps, but the likelihood of it actually happening to someone is probably significantly lower than with anime.
tl;dr Anime is extremely dangerous.
Watching sportsball is bad too, but I think you'll agree that it's dying out as the generations progress, unlike anime which is only increasing.
