Gnosticism just happens not to be any rebellious and teenage philosophy. It only gained this reputation when the Niceans outlawed and persecuted them, and so got the name of "rebellious heretics".
In fact, gnostic texts give clear directions about how one should strive to act, but similarly to buddhism, it takes a more teacher-student approach rather than the ruler-slave laws of mainstream christianity.
The moral relativism associated with modern gnosticism is just a new age meme, similar to the dumbed-down western buddhism.
