I used to be a communist but became a fascist because of the people who constitute the communist scene and because I hate the anti-nationalism inherent in modern communists. However, if an authoritarian communist state came to the U.S. and was extremely nationalistic, started purging members of antifa, and was basically red fascism in practice I'd have no problem dawning an NKVD uniform and purging degenerates if it came down to it.

This is actually true to some extent. One of the main contributors to fascist thought was an anti-democratic anarchist named Georges Sorel. You also have the national syndicalists in Spain and even Mosley proposed a European socialism built upon syndicalist principles.
Historically, one of the main reasons fascists hated communists wasn't as much about economics but more about the fact that they wanted to kill members of the clergy, overthrow the state, opposed the monarchy in many nations and wanted to overturn tradition and personally I can understand why people would hate a group trying to do these things.

Fascism, as a word, has ALWAYS been irrelevant outside Italian politics. Fascism's rough definition is essentially valuing one's party over another. Akin to "racism" where valuing one race over another. In most instances its a nothing-word. A buzzword.
In American politics the appropriate word would be partisan.
