That said, we should really be constantly looking into what we can do to help all of those in our society to be more mentally/psychologically/emotionally sound and to make better decisions.
But the thing about that is, the elites do not want the unwashed masses to be too mentally sound or to understand how to raise themselves up.
They want a clear divide between their elite pool, and the rest of humanity.
Climbers rock the boat, upset the balance, throw wrenches into their plans and destroy their machinations.
So they have a vested interest in keeping that to a minimum.
If everyone has a clear idea of how to live their life and strive for success, then many at the top will themselves, or their families, be in danger of usurpation of long held power.
Just as well, keeping the general population educated and aware to only the bare minimum, greatly increases the power you wield over them. They should be ignorant of all but what you want them to know.
As the news, media, entertainment, academia and government is owned and operated by the elites, they use that as a tool to keep people ignorant, uninformed and misinformed. To distort all things to the degree which best advantages themselves.
If you cannot see it, it is because you have been raised in a world that has taught you not to see.
