They are not a scam in that they do not hide the odds, but they are certainly not profitable to play.

I actually play 1 ticket of it per month through direct debt, "just in case" but if you actually, for reals, intent to win it as a life planning option (or buy even more tickets than that in order to "increase your chances") you are an idiot.

i know someone who won a fraction of an euromillions 1st prize, about 10 million euros.
he was in the construction business (small fish though), so he upped his game in that area

What piss me off about the UK one is 3 things;

1.take a million pound scratch card for example; someone can win that top prize and until 70% of all possible *winnings* have been claimed, they can carry on selling it as a 'top prize of 1 million!'..
So you can have scratch cards where the top 3-4 prize tiers are all gone and all you can possibly win is £50 still being sold as a £1 mil win.
And trying to find what prizes are left on a scratch card is an absoloute joke (even though they're suppose to display it)
But shit, the government doesn't care when the lottery brings in so much ££.

2. The Lottery also pisses me off in for giving so much "back" to the community; when if they didn't it would literally increase the prize pool by 1/3; increasing odds/prize pools/tiers etc.

3.Finally there use to be a map which showed the number of top prize winners for the UK per county which disappeared way back in 2012-13..
Some 70-80% of winnings happen up North (above London).. I know their all benefit scum Lords up there and probably spend more on the lottery than here down South but those percentages seem BS to me. Hence why i recon they removed that map from the site.

When i worked at ASDA while at uni; the number of people i use to see spending £25+ a week on the lottery is frightening

I guess there'll always be speculation and conspiracy theories about some of the anonymous winners being nonexistent but some of them certainly are real, I angered the relative of a 70 million Euromillions winner a couple years back.

If you have money to burn, you might as well play with stock options, the chances of success are higher.

It's less of a farce than voting, given you're several magnitudes more likely to win the lottery than to select a "national representative" or a president.
