I am a professional liberal economist, and know what'll fix it:
--pump the area full of immigrants who not only don't pay taxes, use a massive amount of taxpayer services such as welfare, medical care, etc.
--see that increase in population drive up the cost of rent, car prices, food, and everything else
--see said population increase drive down the value of labor and render even college-educated jobs to be lower-valued than they used to be
--say it's all good and everything's better because "growth" was achieved, and the rich got richer due to the higher demand at higher prices while the poor got poorer.
That'll fix it, right?

Boomer here. At my elementary school in the 1980's you could buy breakfast for $1. It was a freshly baked blueberry muffin and a single-serve cold cereal like Honey Nut Cheerios and a 2% milk. I only bought that occasionally because the breakfast table at school was all 8 of the black kids who went there. That always fascinated me when I was little. My parents always made sure I ate breakfast before I left for school in the morning.
