Anon5, wanted to ask you some math questions, already asked them in the thread that got sent to bant and then 404ed.
1) The length of a cycloid (a circle rolled over time) is 8r, this implies that circumference in a kinematic situation is 8r as well, and that pi = 4
2) Does this mean that only in pure geometric situations that pi = 3.14589... or is it even simpler -- that irrational numbers are just a matter of "scaling" -- as in we run into problems when we try to go "outside" the scale, or apply our number line/integers in the wrong way?
3) Physical point vs. mathematical point -- physical points are dimensionless, mathematical points mean nothing without intervals -- as in rational numbers in 1,2,3-dimensional systems are describing intervals, not instants.
4) Does this mean that calculus is wrong to go to a limit at a point? Furthermore, is it wrong for physics to throw out the time variable? The concept of "action" seems like circular reasoning. Feynman said to "shut up and calculate" but this seems unscientific -- and more like heuristics
5) One more that I can think of -- we experience reality as a "unified field" -- I have read some interesting ideas about already existing equations (Newton's theory of UG, GMm/r^2) as well as others (Maxwell's equations, Lagrange, Coulomb) essentially being already "unified". There is gravity (attraction) and electric charge (repulsion) hidden in constants like "G" which acts like a scaling factor between the gravity field (which acts at the macro level) and the charge field (which is composed of a medium of photons acting at the photonic level). I have to think that through more and do more research but that seems to be the gist.
6) A lot of 20th-century "advanced" math seems to be just a form of compressed math -- tensor calculus, lagrange, hamiltonians, meant to obfuscate and remove clarity. Even Einstein didn't wan't to use it in his early papers and stuck to good old algebra.
