I'm having an identity crisis Jow Forums. Since everyone, regardless of where they come from, can be an American, it's just hard for me to consider my country and the American people mine. Idk if any of you feel this way too, but it's just something I have been pondering for a while.
I live in a somewhat rural town in the midwest so I personally don't see minorities that often, didn't go to high school with that many of them either (Class of 2017), but it scares me whenever I travel to the more populated towns. I remember a week or two ago sitting at a stoplight and looking through my passenger side window at a Somalian man and his wife in a rusty old 2000ish Ford Windstar. I just looked at them for the longest time thinking to myself how fucked this country has become. The light turned green and they sped past me. I got home and that's all I could think about for the next two or three days. I kept thinking to myself: That Somalian family I saw the other day are Americans.
Idk Jow Forums. I just really wish I grew up at a different time in American history; like maybe during and after WW2 when my grandparents grew up. I feel like I don't belong here anymore. The country my ancestors built and died for is slowly crumbling to the ground. I don't know if it's even worth saving since radical change just seems impossible to me. I don't know what to do with myself anymore.
