Save 10% of all the income you make, put it in a saving account, and every tree months take the money out a buy Vanguard Total Index (VTI or VUN in Canada). Even with a moderate salary you will be rich over time if you just do this.

I have been out of college 8 months now and have zero student debt, $40,000 in the bank, and $12,000 in stocks. Just a couple more months on my military contract and I'm out.

When my dad went to college it was a few hundred dollars a year. He paid for medical school by working as a lifeguard during the summer. A simple laborer made enough money for a nice suburban house, 2 cars bought with cash, and could support a wife and kids with vacations on his salary alone.

The college system in America is not entirely a free-market capitalist system. For one thing, the government has heavily inflated the demand by issuing out government backed student loans. This is honestly the biggest reason why college is so expensive and a rip off in the first place (Artificial increase in supply of loans --> increases demand for college --> increased price of college). Furthermore, the government prevents most people from declaring bankruptcy on their loans. Therefore, the bankers see it was literally free money they get because the loans have virtually no risk.

This is not how free-markets are suppose to work. Its too much government intervention.

By the way, there isn't really any modern economic system that uses a pure bred capitalist system or communist system. Its all mixed markets.

A big benefit is that, with your command's approval, you can attend college courses while enlisted and they'll provide tuition assistance up to a certain amount.

Also, Bahrain isn't a bad place to be stationed so long as you don't get drunk in public and pick fights with the locals

in this day and age the military is the best way to go. im going to the airforce for 8 years after i finish welding school. gonna try to save $60k minimum and invest that when i get out. fuck uni, the military will PAY YOU to learn whatever job youbwant to do and then yiu have experience for the civillian sector.
