I'm moving to the UK for a year (Norfolk). Dont worry, I'm doing everything by the book and will return once my business is done.
I made this thread because I'm a little worried about life over there, specially regarding government monitoring issues. Can people actually get in trouble for what they post on the internet? What sort of topics are best not too discuss with strangers? What activities are pretty much normal/legal everywhere except in the UK?

Norwich is a good city as far as I recall. Nice historic buildings and such. Its also one of the quieter cities. Not a huge nightlife. Unfortunately most of the students at UEA hang out on campus since that's where the student union is, and that's easily the best nightclub around.
It's relatively undisturbed compared to many of the larger cities. I think you'll enjoy it.

Traditional Norfolk dialects have died out in recent years with the exception of some rural areas. You'll find Norfolk accents in the main are relatively neutral and easy to understand.
