I'm not getting paid. My original post didn't even refer to Jews. It just referred to innocent people, many women and children, who were killed by Hitler. There are three ways of dealing with this fact:
1) Deny it
2) Contest the innocence of children, and their right not to murdered in camps
3) Contest it because it results in guilt or unwanted post-war policy, which i think is what you are doing.

I just finished it too. While I enjoyed it I did not find it a complete exposition of National Socialist ideology. For this one should check out Alfred Rosenberg's book, The Myth of the 20th Century.

Also keep in mind that it was written very early in the history of the party (1923, the party did not even gain power for another ten years), and it is autobiographical, so Hitler is naturally inclined to paint himself in a favorable light. We all do this when speaking our writing about ourselves whether consciously or unconsciously, and the leader of a burgeoning political movement at such a volatile time would have done everything to massage the truth he could get away with. For example he says his NSDAP member number is 7, making him one of the founding circle, but he was actually member 555, and carried around a forged membership card with the number edited. We know this because Anton Drexler wrote him a letter complaining about it, but never sent it. So, take everything with a grain of salt.

There is also much to be said about his use of the German language, including certain idioms and the crazy compounding of words that Germans are so fond of, but I will leave the details of that to the experts because my German is at about the level of a kindergarten student right now.

I found it in the reference section at the Seattle library and you can't check out reference books, so I just stole it and read it until I finished it and then put it back in its place. In it he is much more candid of course and reveals his true hatred for Christianity and the church as well as his utter contempt for Slavs. In one of his talks he compares them to Native Americans and says that when Russia has been conquered and Germany has begun colonizing it, they will treat the Russians much the same way the colonists of the New World treated the Natives. Let them have vodka, but absolutely no advanced education, just enough training in German to read road signs. Nor any real healthcare other than the bare minimum. And Slavs and Germans must never mix. He really wanted to drive them into the ground, pitilessly, ruthlessly.

People have raised doubts about its authenticity, and personally I have some reservations as well, but I think for the most part it is legit or as legit as one can hope for. The whole idea was Bormann's, he wanted a record for posterity because Hitler was a messianic figure to many National Socialists, so even his idle chit chat should be recorded. Consider the Suras, a book of the "prophet" Mohammed's sayings which were recorded for posterity in a volume considered by all Muslims as an essential companion to the Qur'an.

Where there is doubt about the factual or historical accuracy of a certain passage it is mentioned in the footnotes, at least in the edition I read, which was very old.
