Can confirm. I had a group of people at my work who always had lunch together. They were always a bit awkward but everyone treated them nicely and tried to include them in events.
Eventually 1 transitioned to a female and then within the year, the entire group of ~4 people transitioned. Every time one “came out”, they’d have a few weeks of getting tons of attention (mainly from the progressive women at the office), before falling back into their group and still being lonely and even more depressed.
