What are Jow Forums's thoughts on casinos, and gambling in general? Should it be legal?

It destroys families and consumes the lives of innocent people who are unable to climb out of depression. Unlike drugs and alcohol, gambling addictions are harder for the addict to realize, harder to actually stop, and lead to physical addictions like drug abuse.

Casinos play on many evolutionary traits that a lot of humans are unable to fight, this leads to irrational behavior. It’s a sickening industry and casinos shouldn’t be allowed.

Gambling on its own is different than a corporate gambling system like a casino.

Its not as bad as youd think. At the first sign of compulsive or addicted gambling we ship them out with a pamphlet of numbers to call and a city wide ban on playing for one year, and offer "self exclusion" from promotions and marketing for a year if asked. If you cant figure out its entertainment and shouldnt be relied on as income you're a brainlet.

I play poker for a living, but gambling in general is awful and needs to be banned. Skill games like poker, pot limit Omaha, Razz and even blackjack should be kept.

But gambling in general (especially lottery tickets) is awful for society, not that you can't lose your shirt at skill games, but it's your choice to keep losing and not win in the sense that anybody can beat low stakes with a bit of study.

Some people like the bonus rounds, others like the chance at hitting the jackpot which is usually higher than theyll ever accumulate in chips at a table. When I play I play double double video poker and 4 card keno with 2 5 spots and 2 8 spots, 1$ a card or 1.25 for poker. In poker if I hit a royal it pays over a grand and ive hit two on 20 dollar buy ins at the bars just to not have to pay for alcohol this year. Keno a 5 spot pays 200 and I hit those regularly, 8 spot with 2 in (.50$) pays 4,000 and I've hit one.

we ( wife and I) used to go 2-3 times a week...BUT we only took $20 each..ate cheap food at casino, played penny slots..we knew we would not win, just did it as entertainment, sat and talked to each other as we played ..sometimes made money sometimes lost it..

This is normal gambling. Low risk. Entertainment. Using it for free booze or cheap/free food. Not everyone bets the ranch on Red or Black.

Lottery tickets are probably worse, or it's just more prevalent in my area since my state doesn't allow casinos on land.

In Vegas if you dont want to pay a hundred dollar tab, take 20-30$ to a Dottys or other local bar and play their video poker or keno on low limits like 5 cents or up to a quarter. Again it's on you to know what you can afford to lose for entertainment. Theyll bring you drinks all night on 20 dollars and throwing them a few bucks in tips here and there. Just dont bring access to more money, know that when intoxicated risk is more fun and prevent yourself from taking too much of it. You'll be fine.

It's not meant to be "fun", just addictive. People get hooked up on those due to sunk cost fallacy and the dopamine high for winning every now and then.

This is why I only carry a limited sum of money into a casino.
Usually it's 50 bucks or under and that is my limit. I haven't been to a casino for months.
I keep it a relative rarity to keep it fresh.

I once walked into a casino with 20 bucks and left a couple hours later with over 500.
But usually I leave empty handed. But I had fun.

Should be allowed to do what you want with your own money. Although you'd have to be an idiot to play slot machines and shit like that. At least with Poker, a parlay etc there is a degree of skill involved and not just blind luck. You can realistically win more than you lose.

It is almost impossible now due to the high regulations. We have new laws since november last year that regulate the distance between two casinos. Everything to close to each other was closed by the state.
As you can imagine, all good spots are taken since years.

We are operating in North-Rhine Westfalia (West Germany)
We would love to hire dealers but we are a private-commercial casino and because of that only slots are permitted. Card games are only for state-run casinos

It's nothing to do with Jews, you just need capital investment if you want productivity growth. The people who actually hold all the capital in capitalist society are very rarely innovators who can personally put that capital into good use. More importantly, the majority of capital is owned by small-time middle-class savers.
Unless you can come up with an alternative system which allows potential innovators and entrepreneurs to use other people's capital, the economy will fall into a Malthusian trap.

(Of course, there ARE alternative methods of utilizing society's capital in a way that doesn't involve individual credit/debt, but suggestion those would get you branded a stupid socialists and send the "Venezuela!"-screeching flying monkey squads on you)
