I honestly believe that it's a good thing to help other people, especially refugees. If I can sacrifice a small amount of my own comfort to help others to increase the total well-being, I would do so. The issue is that what is going on in Sweden is completely indefensible. We are destroying our own country, dismantling our own welfare system, increasing the tax burden and even decreasing our aid to the UNHCR. Why? To take in adult men lying about their age and where they come from. How on earth could anyone possibly justify this?

A more accurate analogy would be that someone asks you to pick apart your house so they can use it as firewood. And you would agree to it. You would give them the roof, the walls, the floor planks so they can keep themselves warm by a fire. At the end, you would stand there without a house, and those who live in your house, those who might visit your house, and those who seek shelter in your house shall have to do so elsewhere.

I work for a natural gas company and we literally had a guy die like this. Saw someone who has passed in a small shack that had a gas leak, rushed over to drag him out, passed out in the gas, died. Luckily for the other guy (who passed out on the floor with more oxygen), somebody else came along and had the wherewithal to call gas control and tell them to shut off the pipeline.

I can think of a few counterarguments.
1. The majority of immigrants coming to Europe including Sweden are not actually refugees, they're economic migrants in search of welfare benefits. No one has any obligation to help them.
2. In the case of genuine refugees, it is much more (cost) effective to help tehm in their countries of origin since those countries tend to be less developed and therefore cheaper, which means you can help more people at the same cost. I recall seeing some numbers from the US that estimated the cost of taking care of refugees in the US to be 10 times the cost of taking care of them in Syria, so for every refugee receiving aid in the US there are 9 people who could have also been helped with that money. This would serve the added benefit of stabilizing these troubled regions and allowing the refugees to live closer to their families, speak their own language and practice their own culture.
3. While the idea of helping the entire world's needy might sound nice on paper it's not exactly practical because of the cost it has to the helper nations. Every lifeboat has a maximum capacity and taking in more people than that will just lead to the lifeboat sinking which will only increase the amount of drowning people. Europe has seen massive increases in spending, violence and instability due to the migrant crisis. What happens when the costs catch up to them and the prosperous Sweden starts turning into the dysfunctional Greece? Will the (new) Swedes continue the cycle of migration and head to Russia in search of aid?
4. The issues that create refugees are in large part caused by the refugees themselves, such as in Venezuela that happily voted its way into socialism and which lead to poverty. If the people are simply bailed out of trouble they will never learn from their mistakes and the same pattern will repeat again.

TL;DR: Sweden is helping the wrong people in a horribly inefficient way while also risking its own stability.
