>A girl aged 12 and a 16-year-old boy are believed to have taken their own lives after playing a WhatsApp “suicide challenge” game.
>The deaths occurred within 48 hours of each other in Barbosa, in the Santander Department in northeastern Colombia. Police say they believe the pair died after playing the Momo game, which is being shared around the world.
>Local media has reported that the teenage boy knew the girl and passed the game to her before killing himself. She was found hanged two days later.
>Colombian government secretary Janier Landono said: “Apparently, they practised this game through WhatsApp and it invited the young people to hurt themselves. The game has different challenges and the suicide is at the end.”
>As well as the two deaths in Colombia last week, “the death of a teenager in India was also linked to the Momo challenge”, says The Sun.
