If you look at the Euro trends it bring Flo to the mainland. The GFS seems to have become retarded the last 2 years.
Of course it loses the warm water energy when it hits land. Pascagoula/Dauphin Island are a mess in some dense areas. With the northeast wind at the surface, trees will be creating friction, slowing down wind speeds for people on the ground to half that. It is a mess.
